Runs way too small

I don't understand why Castelli's clothing in general runs so small. Why can't biker's road apparel go by a standard sizing in general?? There are big recreational riders like myself and it is so confusing why mainly Castelli makes their stuff so small. I am size 34 denim and L or XL shirt at Castelli I am usually 2XL on bottoms and 3XL on tops. I attempted to get this in XL, but fit me like a medium on a regular clothing sizing. I am exchanging it for a XXL.

Almost perfect

I love these knickers. The fleece is luxuriously warm in the 40's and the fit is what I have come to enjoy about Castelli. I wear a medium, 5'8", 157 lbs, 31" waist with a 30" inseam, built like a swimmer with a longer torso and shorter legs. My only dislike is that they don't have the Progetto 2 chamois like what is in all of my bib shorts. If it had that chamois, they'd be perfect.

Ihave long wanted to look down at my leg and see a scorpion. But because Castelli and some of the other brands sold here design for the pros and the skinny pros, who are thinnish to start with, like compression and aero, Castelli runs small for the rest of us. At least that's my theory of Castellis perennial size issue and why I don' t own much Castelli. For these knickers I went directly to XL, by passing L and find that the only remaining fit issue is with the somewhat tight shoulder straps. I also find the interior fuzz makes them a little too warm above 60*. The weak cuff retention some here complain of is not a problem for me. They rise and settle below the knee so no binding is felt. Quality of materials and workmanship is very good indeed.

Poor Fit and Cheaply Made

Familiarity:

Suspender straps were narrow and cut into shoulders; I normally wear Size L bottoms, but a L is too small. The reflective Castelli logo on leg was poorly applied, already peeling off and the "C" was already off when I opened package. Compared to a pair of Castelli fleece lined tights Size L I purchased on this site a few years ago, these knickers are shoddy. I was not able to exchange for Size XL..."out of stock"! Had to request refund and ordered a different model of Castelli knickers. We shall see...

Too Long for Me

Familiarity:

I like 3/4 shorts or knickers to end just below the knee, leaving ankle and calf exposed but knees warm. I've never seen the point of knickers leaving 6" of your shins exposed instead of just wearing tights, but I realize that's what most people like. These were ultimately too long to do my usual trick of just pulling the elastic hem below my knee where I like it. I did not use these, but there was just too much fabric bunched up behind my knee based on past experience. Gave three stars because it's a fit issue for me, not really a quality issue. I said it runs large based on length, but the size is true to Castelli standards in other aspects. I have several other Castelli shorts/tights, and they've been great. The Omloop short fits the bill for warmer weather but I'm really looking for a warm/wind proof knicker that hits just below the knee in 35-45 degrees F. These aren't it.

pleasantly warm, smallish fit

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I'm 6' and a review I read said to go larger, so I went to XL on these. I wear L in Voler. I do find the bibs just slightly tight over the shoulders but not uncomfortable, and otherwise they fit fine. The pad is somehow amazing, like sitting on air and I had to get used to it a little but it's just very comfortable. These ones aren't just lycra that are longer, they do have a slight thermal fuzzy layer in them that is perfect where I am right now. Fallish/winter on the central coast of CA. I'm finding them perfect for road rides between 45-55 degrees.
