Double Espresso Jacket
We’ve all been there, suffering through our training rides in the cold depths of winter simply because we should, not necessarily because we want to. But that's why Castelli makes the Double Espresso jacket, so you can be warm and comfortable in those frigid winter conditions and avoid spending your entire winter on the trainer or rollers. It's the warmest jacket in Castelli's lineup, keeping you cozy in a recommended temperature range of 23 - 46-degrees Fahrenheit. So go ahead and rack up those base miles, because come spring and summer you'll be dropping your buddies thanks to the work you put in over the winter.
The Double Espresso Jacket is constructed from a windproof and water-resistant Gore-Tex Infinium 150 fabric layered over a separate brushed micro fleece insulation layer. This design keeps the warmth in and the wind and precipitation out so you can focus on your training goals and not the inclement weather. The cut is slightly more relaxed than the Alpha ROS jacket so you can add an extra layer for those super cold conditions. Castelli gives the jacket articulated shoulders for greater ease of movement as well as a shaped collar to close comfortably around the neck and keep out chilly drafts. You have three ample rear pockets plus a secure zippered pocket on the chest for keys, money, or other essentials.
- Castelli's warmest jacket for frigid winter temperatures
- Gore-Tex Infinium provides windproof and water-resistant coverage
- Brushed fleece inner layer keeps the warmth in and cold out
- Semi-fitted cut leaves enough room for comfortable layering
- Articulated shoulders for a perfect on-the-bike fit
- Shaped collar helps block out chilly drafts
- Zippered chest pocket safely stows your essentials
- Three rear cargo pockets for snacks, water bottles, tools

I can't recommend this jacket enough. While the recommended temp range is 23F - 46F, I don't think wearing this jacket above 36F is necessary. I've worn it during a few 40F commutes, for 30ish minutes, and was almost uncomfortably warm. I think you could push this jacket into colder temperatures. I was very comfortable in 28F weather. Normally I pair this with an older set of Cdale Nano Elite thermal bibs that have a thermal "jersey", and a Mons Royale knitted balaclava. Really toasty. Big pockets, fits great, extra pocket up front for ID/cash/CC etc., and nice reflective add ons. Oh, and a couple extra vents for when you're actually grinding up a climb and getting hot. Worth the price if you want to keep riding in the winter but hate having three layers on and can't peel em off or store them comfortably.

Wow! I took it for 25 mile test ride today. The windchill made it 16°. I had a light merino wool base layer underneath and a turtle fur neck gaiter on. Completely comfortable ride. I am 6‘1“ and 220 pounds. The XXL was initially a little snug but felt incredible on the bike. I am very impressed with this jacket.

Is the Double espresso much looser in fit. I have a xlg perfetto jacket that is just right or a bit snug with a layer. Would you recommend sizing up?

I am 6’ 1” and 220 pounds. I have the XXL. It is a little snug but feels amazing on the bike. I just put on a light merino wool base layer, underneath. Road today with a windchill of 16° and was completely comfortable. Pair it with LAST YEAR’s Giordana AV Bib tights (on sale) and you have a perfect cold weather kit!
