Multi-surface rain protection.

With the gravelly advent of all-road cycling, many of us are finding that our usual go-to shoecovers for rainy days lack the flexibility we need for mixed-surface outings. Castelli's Diluvio All-Road Shoecovers combine the waterproof neoprene bodies of the standard Diluvio models with an open-sole construction that accommodates everything from the lugs on mountain bike shoes to traversing the slick finish of café floors in traditional road shoes.

The Diluvio All-Road's neoprene body is an ideal insulation to keep your feet warm and dry. The conforming fit of these covers has also been coupled with a full-length, waterproof rear zipper, which eliminates water infiltration while making the covers easier to pull over your shoes. Additionally, Castelli added a zipper garage, a 16cm fitted cuff, and an O-ring at the top of the opening in order to seal out water.

It's also worth noting that, even though these were designed to be as waterproof as possible, in order to provide a slip-free walking surface, the soles of the All-Road are open. You may not stay quite as dry as with the standard Diluvio, but you won't wear out the covers while walking to the office, into the grocery store, or up flights of stairs. The sole features hook-and-loop adjustability and, once their on and dialed, the Diluvio All-Roads are finished with reflective detailing to help keep you visible in low-light conditions.

Warm but not durable.

I commute about 24 miles a day in the Seattle area and was looking for warm, waterproof shoe covers. I wear a women's size 7 mountain biking shoe and had no trouble putting the shoe covers on, particularly with the velcro and zipper closures. While they are definitely not waterproof, they are quite warm, even when wet.
Despite these qualities, lack of durability was their downfall. In under a month, the toe guard fell apart and the elastic border separated from the neoprene, making them unwearable. Holes also developed along the side of the shoe cover. Further, the inside is lined with a very soft fabric, which probably feels great against your skin, but was rapidly destroyed by the velcro straps on my shoes. Very disappointing, I'll be returning these.

    Nice covers but watch sizing.

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: 2XL

I bought these in hopes that I could use one set of covers for all my bikes - road, gravel and mountain - regardless of pedals. They work perfect for that. Nice stretchy neoprene material. However the sizing is way off. I wear shoes from 43.5 - 44 depending on the brand. Knowing these ran small I ordered an XL. Label inside said fits 40-44 so I assumed a tight fit. No way. Couldn't even get them on my 43.5 shoes. Material just wouldn't stretch that far. The ankle calf portion was also tight when zipped Covers themselves were at least 2" shorter than shoes. I exchanged for a 2XL set. Much better fit but still snug even on my 43.5 road shoes and snug on legs when zipped. I'd say the 2XL is a perfect fit for something in the 43-45 range.
