Description

Ascend.

There are two elements of summer cycling that we tend to forget about during the long winter base miles and trainer sessions. First, we forget just how much work climbing at speed can be; second, we forget how much the heat of climbing temperatures exacerbates the negatives of that work. Fortunately for us, Castelli's memory is better than ours, and it spent the winter designing the lightweight Climber's Jersey.

The jersey leads into summer's steep grades and high heat with front panels of Flusso 3D material, which uses the 3D construction found throughout Castelli's line to ventilate, improve wicking, and keep you grinding up the climbs. It's an absurdly light 75g/m², which gives it a barely-there feel so it all but disappears in the most intense heat. This lack of substance is offset with a built-in bustier lining to offer an additional element of support and ensure that the jersey doesn't give away anything but moisture and body heat.

The back panel is another 3D material, StradaPro, which is a bit more substantial to support the three rear pockets even when they're loaded down with food and supplies. If you've ever had to spend a few extra hours in the August heat because you didn't have gear to change a flat or a disastrous bonk reduced your pace to a granny gear struggle, then you'll appreciate the ability to fully load-up with tubes, CO2, and road snacks. It also continues the jersey's general them of breathable moisture management, protecting the gains in comfort made by its Flusso counterpart.

The jersey's body is modeled after the aerodynamic Certezza jersey, and it incorporates features like the lie-flat AirMesh armbands to eliminate skin-to-jersey transition ridges which tend to present a foothold to the wind. The one difference in shaping is that the Climber's jersey limits its zipper length to three-quarters, which makes for an uninterrupted, smooth surface over the jersey's stomach for a fit that's arguably even more aerodynamic than the Certezza.

Favorite Hot Weather Jersey

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Large

This is my go to jersey if the temp is above 80. Great for climbing, as it has a modesty panel in the front. You can unzip without worrying about showing too much of the girls. Super light weight. It runs a smidge big in the torso, but the arms band size is perfect. Great match with the Castelli Free Aero shorts. My new favorite kit.

lightweight but runs a little big

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: Medium

This jersey is a summer time riding staple. Super lightweight, breathable fabric and a built in base layer makes for a pretty rad jersey. I dont really like how the jersey doesn't zip all the way down but a big plus is that the jersey has three pockets (sometimes a struggle finding that for ladies jerseys). This jersey DEFINITELY does not follow the normal Castelli size chart where normally I would wear a medium and it would fit tight, this jersey in a medium is almost a little bit baggy. For literally every other Castelli item, I recommend sizing up one if not two sizes but for this jersey, I would almost size down. Other than that, jersey is comfy and I dig the sleeve length which is a little longer than most jerseys I own. Overall, a solid jersey choice for hot rides!

too long in back

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs large

When I first tried on this jersey I thought it fit perfectly but later when I wore it for a ride the first time with stuff in the pockets I was disappointed by the length in back. It hangs down past my butt. However, it should be great for warm weather riding.

pretty but suck

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I didnt read carefully enough for the description that its only 3/4 zip, otherwise. i wont get it. faburic is too fragile to put anything in the pocket and any crashes will just ruin the jersey. also for longer rides, its hard to take off and pee. Oh well, but it is pretty, i am keeping it. its good for 10-15 miles ride...... Sigh......

this jersey is not durable at all..............

take care of this jersey

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This jersey is really nice, confortable and looks very cool, my concern is that I think is not very durable, you have to be very carfull using it, washing it, if not you will have a lot of loose threads.

i took insane good care of, it still have a lot of loose threads...

Gorgeous, Extremely Lightweight

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs large

The design detail on this jersey is awesome. If you're looking for a super-lightweight, airy but technical fabric, this is it. Wicks and breathes like no other but, sun-watchers beware. This is not meant to keep you hiding in the shade so keep the sunscreen handy. Runs slightly large. ***Questions? Need other product recommendations? Hit me up at klindsey@backcountry.com

runs a little large

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

its a great climbing jersey- but be sure to order a size smaller. It's VERY loose

Cool jersey

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Cool looking and kept me fairly cool on a very long, hot climb. The fabric is soft, extremely light-weight and really breathes/dries well. I did not size up as I usually do with Castelli and the XS fits great...perhaps slightly snug in the hips but I'm a bit pear-shaped. The fabric is very stretchy so it works. There is no built in bra but rather an inner front panel of mesh for modesty when you unzip the jersey to cool off. It is not see through and is a really nice feature. There are 3 back pockets which are on the small side...they do stretch so I can still put a fair amount in each one but I wish they were a little bigger. I'm really happy with the raspberry color. It's vibrant without being too bright.

Castelli Women's Climber Jersey

The fabric is very soft and breathable. Very cute on, and very feminine. Typically I size up in Castelli jersey's, however this one, I had to exchange for a smaller size (which is actually the normal size I buy in other brands).

I appreciate the information on sizing...very helpful.
