Warmth that doesn't waffle.
For training in early fall to racing 'cross or in the spring classics, the pros at Garmin-Sharp use specially branded versions of the Castelli Belgian Bootie 4 Shoe Cover. Those of us who are self-sponsored get the option of a stable of attractive variations, all of which have contrasting elements and a tasteful Castelli scorpion logo on the toe.
The Belgian Booties are slim fitting so they won't create extra bulk and rub on your crank arms, and they're cut high enough to protect not only your shoes, but also your socks from 'cross muck and spring-time road detritus. They also have cleat and heel cutouts, so you can scramble over obstacles on race day, and reflective elements on the toe and cuff help keep you visible while training in low-light conditions. They're ideal for use into the mid-50s while training or into the high-40s during short, hard efforts like a race.
The Castelli Belgian Bootie 4 Shoe Cover are available in three sizes ranging from Small/medium, to XX-Large in the colors Black/white, Black/yellow fluo, Drive Blue/red, and White/red.
- Polypropylene construction
- Low-profile fit
- Heel and cleat cutouts

A cool-weather must
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
- Fit: True to size
- Size Bought: S/M
I love sock-type shoe covers and the Belgian bootie makes me yearn for cooler weather and the tough-as-nails riding that comes with it. I like the neon stripe up the back on the Black/Yellow Fluo for visibility and style. They pair well with Castelli's Thermoflex knee and arm warmers that also have a Yellow Fluo stripe.
How is the Belgian Bootie 4 different than the 3?
