Save Your Money
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Fit:
- True to size
These won't save you any weight over sticking to the "free" plugs that come with bar tapes and they take more time to install properly. But hey, they look neat I guess. If you want to bling out your bike a bit then these are for you.

Wow, these are terrible!
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
From the viewpoint of a product design engineer, these are terrible! They don't work at keeping your handlebar tape end tucked into the bar end... When you insert them, the o-ring wants to walk out, and if you manage to get them inserted without the o-ring coming off, they squeak and spin and don't stay put when you tighten them. From a design perspective, and aluminum screw on aluminum spider is a terrible idea! The screw should be stainless or titanium! Look at the picture, you can see the screw material being cleaved off by the anodized spider. This is a terrible design. Do not waste your money ($40!!!!) and just use the cheap plastic "shove-in ones. They are nicely machined and quite pretty though...

Save grams, ride in style. My favorites
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
- Fit:
- True to size
Some bar end plugs can weigh as much as 30 grams each. These weigh just 6. Super lightweight, bling finishing kit. They have an internal expander, so once inserted and tightened with an hex key you can ride with confidence that they aren't going anywhere. Only thing to keep in mind is that these work much better when you don't overlap the bar tape at ends. Re-wrap the bars so that the bar tape is flush with the bar ends. These plugs have 3 sizes of rubber o-rings to ensure for a perfect fit, but when you try to use these plugs to push in overlapping bar tape, the rings get pushed out of their grooves and the plugs will become loose. Most cheap bar end plugs use the extra material from bar tape to stay in place. This is a much cleaner look and and well designed product. Besides, where else can you buy a Cane Creek Products that won't break the bank?
