Super Record 12 Rear Derailleur

Campagnolo equipped bikes have been ridden to some of the most prestigious victories by the sports best riders and it's always reserved its Super Record group for the most discerning riders and racers in the world. When it decided to go 12-speed with its latest mechanical group, it rolled out a host of changes to adapt to the extra gear on the cluster as well as the necessary upgrades to keep Super Record at the top of its game. Enter the Super Record 12 Rear Derailleur, putting Campy up a notch over the competition and providing professional and serious cyclists with the equipment needed to race and train at the highest levels.

Super Record continues to be the group where Campy utilizes exotic materials in an effort to drop grams, reduce friction, increase durability, and of course, match the aesthetic of the rest of the group. Materials like techno-polymer plastic reinforced with carbon fiber, and titanium limit screws create a rear derailleur that not only looks stunning, but it weighs in at a paltry 181 grams and has the durability to withstand the rigors of professional racing and top caliber sprinter wattage.

On this new model Campagnolo uses a slightly different architecture, known as 3D Embrace. It allows the derailleur to sit more inboard, and places the upper pulley wheel at a constant distance from the cog, thus achieving better chain wrap on the sprockets for improved shifting precision. Additionally, the new design tucks the derailleur in a bit, getting it a touch more out of harm's way in the event of a crash. The new shape allows the same medium cage length to work with both of the cassette offerings in 11-32 and 11-29. The final benefit of the new design is the upper pivot is removable so the derailleur is compatible with frame's that feature standard or direct-mount dropouts.

Campagnolo also worked on the spring return tension and its location. The new spring improves upshifting significantly and its new position between the upper body and pivots provides better chain retention so you'll experience less chain slap and dropped chains over rougher roads. Campagnolo also bumped up the teeth on the pulleys from 11 to 12-teeth, further reducing friction and improving chain retention as well as being better able to guide the chain up and down the cassette. At the center of those jockey wheels are ceramic ball bearings which offer silky-smooth spinning for some of the fastest rotating bearings on your bike.
