The Ultimate Sidekick
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
I hike frequently in Texas (and yes, that means in 100+ degree heat) and this pack is by far the best and trustiest Camelbak I have ever owned. It's roomie, tough, and holds more than enough water, especially since the pack has 2 large side pockets, perfect for holding large water bottles (on top of the internal bladder system). The hip belt does a solid job of taking the weight of the pack off my shoulders, and holds small items like chapstick, bug spray etc. Once this one dies, I'll be purchasing another for sure. 11/10.
What exactly is the difference between this one & the 16L. Still a bit new to this & would really want to know
Hey Bianca, there are a few difference between the two packs other than the 4L difference in volume. The 16L will not have a hip belt and will also not include the external storage pocket. Other than that the two packs are very similar. If you have any other questions feel free to reach out to me directly via the information listed above.
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
The Helena has been perfect for daylong hikes. The supplied reservoir is 2.5L, smaller than the 3L Camelbak bags this size often come with. It is still plenty of water for a full day on the trails. The hip belt is very comfortable and the small pockets on the belt are great for storing keys or trash. I also appreciate the straps on the side to help hold the bag tight, even when it is loaded with snacks or clothing. My favorite feature of the bag is the two side water bottle pockets. These are perfect for holding water for the dogs or a bottle with a hydration mix. Fit is very comfortable and the panel breathes better than my previous Camelbaks.
