A great stand alone computer!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Before using this computer, I'd never really put Bryton into the ring with the other big names in the computer game. Now that I've used it, I believe that it stands toe to toe with some of the better computers in the industry.
Pros:
Setup: Setup on this computer is relatively simple. All you have to do is download the app and connect it to your phone. It's easy to customize the app to your needs with a handful of screens and data points.
Reliability: I felt like this device was very reliable. Once I figured out how to connect my sensors, I never had any problems with connecting them again. The climbing data I got back from it was almost identical on the same ride that I did twice using this device. I liked the out-front mount and felt like the one that they provide is super sturdy.
Aesthetic: This computer is simple and looks great because of it. It isn't a flashy device by any means, which I personally loved. I only had one time where the data screen got just a little covered by its own shadow when the sun was in just the right place. Other than that, the screen was always easy to see and didn't cause any problems with glare.
Cons:
Button navigation: The only thing that was a little confusing for me at first on this device was the button navigation system. I didn't read the instructions for it though, so I consider that to be a user error.
Upload speed: I did notice that my rides took a little longer to upload than on other platforms I've used. Once it was in the Bryton system though I had no trouble getting it into Strava.
Final thoughts:
When comparing this device to the Wahoo Roam or Edge 530, I would say that it doesn't quite measure up in it's capability to analyze the data. Garmin takes the cake there, followed closely by Wahoo. To me though, the device was more reliable than a Garmin in it's connectivity and battery life, and has the ability to do things like a drink timer, which Wahoo doesn't. However, the price point on this computer is what makes it AMAZING. Without a doubt you are getting your money's worth for this device and you won't be sorry you made this purchase!
