Brooks England Cambium Saddle - Women's $160.00
Brooks may be best known for its line of leather saddles, but the British saddle wizards have outdone themselves with the Cambium Women’s Saddle. Forgoing the leather hammock construction that made the brand iconic, the Cambium opts instead for a natural rubber base, topped with an organic cotton cover. The resulting saddle has the comfort you’ve come to expect from Brooks, in a vegan-friendly package that’s strikingly modern.
The base of the Cambium is built from natural gum rubber, which has a comfortable spring, and naturally dampens vibration. This is especially important for a saddle bearing the Brooks name, as the smooth ride of the brand’s leather saddles sets an incredibly high bar for the Cambium to match. The cover is an organic cotton canvas, which softens with miles, yielding an incredibly comfortable ride feel. The two layers are vulcanized, forming them into a single piece that will remain intact for the life of the saddle. This shell rests on die cast aluminum blocks, which maintain the shape of the saddle.
This being the women’s version, it has a slightly shorter nose, which better accommodates female anatomy. The 162mm tail width offers generous support for those with medium-width sit bones. It’s a bit wider than typical racing saddles, which many riders find more comfortable for longer durations in the saddle.
The Brooks Cambium Women’s Saddle is available in one size, and in the colors Natural, and Slate.

- Familiarity: I've used it several times
Brooks has done it again... For over 100 years they have made the best leather saddles, now they are producing the finest synthetic saddles on the planet! I was skeptical when buying the Cambium, but it was the best decision I've ever made. Perfect for Cross or Gravel grinding, this saddle takes a ton of abuse and comes back for more.
Color fades drastically, uncomfortable
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
The color of my slate Brooks Cambium faded over the course of two months so that it's more of a light brown. I don't know how this happened - the bike is either being ridden or stored inside. I also find this saddle very uncomfortable.
On the upside, it's a very eye-catching saddle. Brooks now makes a Cambium with a cutout that is probably worth a try. Just don't spend too much time matching your bar tape to your saddle, because in a couple weeks it will be a different color.
