Low Drop Like It's Hot.

If you've been looking to make the low-drop transition but aren't sure where to start, look no further than the Brooks Women's Caldera Trail Running Shoe. Since putting your best foot forward is in your best interest, the designers at Brooks took the dependable technologies you've come to know and love from a Brooks running shoe and ran with it to create a low-drop alternative to shoes like the Cascadia or Adrenaline. In turn, the Caldera features a well-balanced construction to ensure fatigue-fighting performance from mile one all the way to mile 31.

The Caldera features a double mesh upper that protects your foot from grime and obstacles and stretches with it to ensure a pressure-free fit and feel. The arch support is designed as such that it caters to flat, medium, and high arch types, while the neutral support assures that the Caldera works flawlessly with over and under pronators alike. But that's not to say that the Caldera doesn't offer a stable feel underfoot—it's equipped with Brooks' Universal Platform, allowing you to maintain a steady stride in unpredictable terrain. Meanwhile, the BioMoGo DNA midsole has built-in protection, attenuates shock, fights fatigue, and promotes smooth heel-to-toe transitions. And the integrated gaiter tab allows you to attach your choice in gaiters to the shoe to protect you from dust, grass, or hungry bugs.

  • A low-drop trail running shoe for high-mileage cruises
  • Stretchy mesh upper assures ample breathability
  • Neutral support for over and under pronators alike
  • Universal Platform ensures that you maintain a steady stride
  • BioMoGo DNA midsole attenuates shock and fights fatigue

Finally found my shoe

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I was an early Hoka adopter but had a hard time with the fit once they started trying to make their shoes look more 'normal' - lost that nice wide fit that I loved. Tried the Altras but they were way too wide and sloppy, and the zero drop just isn't for me. Then these came out -- and they're perfect! Plenty of cushioning, with a nice wide forefoot but excellent fit across the instep and no slipping in the heel. As first these felt pretty firm and kind of flat underfoot -- have to say, I do miss the 'bathtub' effect of the Hokas. However, once they've broken in they've conformed more to my foot. The cushioning is a bit soft, so I can feel rocks underfoot and I'm not sure just how long these will last., but I'm hoping at least a season or two.
Sizing is true to size -- after reading some reviews that said they ran big, I decided to go down a half size but had to return them and get my usual size.
