Big lid.

Whether you're a regular on the enduro racing circuit or prefer getting rowdy on the trails without a clock nearby, chances are good your helmet's seen some abuse over the years. When your current model earns a crack big enough to make you pause, swap it out for the Bell Super 3R MIPS Men's Helmet instead, and launch into serious lines wearing MIPS technology and full-face protection.

When you're rallying along desert slickrock below cloudless skies, the last thing you need is a helmet trapping the heat. Fortunately, enduro lids have come a long way in recent years, and Bell punched out ventilation wherever it could in the Super 3R without compromising the helmet's structural integrity. Brow channels, helmet vents, and chin guard vents all keep air moving and save you from overheating when the sun's overhead.

While the In-Mold shell protects against direct impacts, Multi-Directional Impact Protection System (MIPS) technology helps absorb and diffuse indirect or oblique forces. MIPS is a thin inner basket sits more subtly on the inside of the helmet. During certain crashes, this slim layer rotates slightly to absorb rotational forces.

In addition to allover protection, Bell didn't forget about smaller features on the Super 3R as well. It gave the integrated camera and light mount a breakaway design. Bell also constructed the entire helmet with breakaway screws for quick removal in case of a more serious crash. Leaning more towards convenience, the adjustable visor integrates with a range of goggles, and X-Static padding creates a cozy fit between your noggin and the shell. The chin bar is removable too; stash it at camp when you're heading out on an easy trail ride, and bring it with you for rowdier days that involve less climbing.

  • Go big in this enduro helmet
  • MIPS technology diffuses rotational forces
  • Lightweight shell includes ample vents to help you stay cool
  • Adjustable visor integrates easily with goggles
  • Camera mount breaks away to reduce injury and device damage in a crash

Good fit, good secure feeling while wearing this, great ventilation. My bontrager rally helmet is admittedly more comfortable but the versatility and extra protection this one offers is a fair trade.

Style wise this thing looks awesome your friends will definitely admire this helmet.

If you get this it might feel right on the cheeks but don't worry the cheek pads have a removable hard foam insert (I guess for more narrow faces the help with fitment just pop it out and youll be much more comfortable)

I use this with Oakley flak 2.0xl glasses and they fit and look great.

can you buy just the top half of the bell super 3r if so how much

I have the same question. Both my son and I have damaged the upper half of our Super 3R and would like to buy just the helmet part and re-use our face-pieces.

comfortable helmet

  • Fit: True to size

I use this helmet during all my rides. Winter and Summer.
Not too worm. Pretty light. gives you better protection on the trails

Excellent protection

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I'm very pleased with the full-face protection this helmet offers. The ability to remove the chin bar is a plus, though with the type of riding I do, I leave it on. Just yesterday, while DHing at Snowbird, I found out just how much I appreciate the chin bar. It was only a scratch from the rock I hit, but that same impact to my face would not have been as pleasant!

Great all-in-one helmet

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

If you are a rider that likes everything from XC to some decent-speed descents, for me this helmet may be the best choice in the market. This is of course not an XC-specific helmet (those are much lighter and have more ventilation), and it is not a downhill-specific helmet either (those have better crash ratings), but if you have to own one and only one helmet, I find this to be a terrific choice.
Did quite a fair bit of reading (reviews, descriptions, and such) when looking for an all-in-one helmet, and this came up first. The fit without the chin guard does not look as cool as a regular helmet that was designed not to have a chin guard (it looks a little large, as if you had a huge head); but for me protection comes first (likely all other "hybrid" helmets would have this somewhat odd look when worn without the guard).
Todd Frein, a gear advisor here at C.C. was quite helpful addressing my questions and helping me out with my order. Always a great experience shopping here at C.C!

This helmet is super comfortable and the chin guard provides the extra protection I was looking for. I recently took a bad crash and ended up with 14 stitches in my chin, hence why I went with the full face feature. I love the removable chin guard for uphill riding and being able to snap it on in a jiffy for the downhill. It’s super lightweight even with the chin guard on, and plenty breathable. Luckily I haven’t crashed with this bad boy yet but the combination of mips technology and full face feature provide me with the utmost confidence to get sendy. It’s a little bit on the pricey side but totally worth it. My only complaint is that it doesn’t have a goggle strap and the clips on the side make things look a little awkward but those are just minor, superficial faults I’ve found. If you’re on the fence I’d totally recommend picking one of these up.

Okay helmet

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I returned the helmet and went with a POC tectal, since I’d only were the face guard a few times. With the face guard on, it was pretty comfortable and fit snug. But as for the half shell, it couldn’t compare to how comfortable the POC is. I’ll buy a legit full face down the road and suggest the same if you’re going to ride some enduros.

The good, the bad, the ugly

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

The good: light, ventilated, good style, comes with a bag and camera hold. Chin pads have removable extra padding and can be taken off. It wraps well around the head without pressure. Love to ride in it. Great product.
The bad: hard to open up the levers to remove the chin when wearing gloves. There is no clip to hold the goggles strap. A bit of a "mushroom" look when the chin is removed. Color of the visor is slightly off.
The ugly: none, really.

Does the super 3r not come with the go pro mount anymore?

Hey Nick, These are still shipping with the breakaway camera mount according to Bell.

The Super 3R is not listed in the sizing chart. Which one of the helmets listed is closest in sizing?

Here's the sizing from Bell's website:

S: 52-56cm / 20" - 22"

M: 55-59cm / 21 5/8" - 23 1/4"

L: 58-62cm / 22 7/8" - 24 3/8"

Color description off

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Helmet works like a helmet. Fits true to size. Not the most comfortable one I've owned. Ordered the Black/ Cherry color combo and was slightly disappointed when the color turned out to be more of a pink than red but figured thats why it was on sale anyways...

Fantastic all around helmet

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is a perfect helmet for everything from XC in park city to riding DH in Whistler . On the long rides it is lightweight and breathable and on the DH it is comfortable and not too cumbersome. It offers great full protection with an incredible fit.

Just the right protection

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I was looking for a full face for riding lift service DH. I ended up purchasing this convertible helmet due to the fact it is still a bike helmet. Some of the beefier full face felt like a motocross helmet and was a little too much for what I would be riding. I have yet to determine if it adequately will protect me on a nasty flow/jump trail fall, but so far it is comfortable and keeps me cool.

super light and comfotable

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

I have only used this helmet a couple times but really enjoy it. It provides the additional protection I am looking for when riding lifts with out adding a ton of weight. I have used it with sunglasses and felt very comfortable. Although I don't plan on using it for much trail riding it can certainly be used for that.

Two in one!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I Absolutely love this helmet! I love the fact that it has a detachable chin guard which is super convenient especially on hot summer days or when riding more mellow lines. Very lightweight and breathable on trail and while climbing!

they fixed the fit

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

other than the spot-on comments about how versatile this helmet is, I'll add that they got the fit right, at least for my head. I bought the Super 2R before, and it was just a bit too round and while loose on the sides, it caused a pressure point on the forehead. Had to return that. But, the 3R is perfectly shaped. It's a keeper! Also proved to be comfortable on a humid 90* day last week (I did not run the chin bar, but a buddy with the same helmet did)

Great Light Weight Protection!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

It is perfect to stow away the chin bar on the uphill and attach back on for the downhill. I switched from the giro switchblade and like this one better.

Great brain bucket

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I am not normally one for reviews, but this helmet is fantastic. I had a nasty fall last year that left me searching for more protection, while still being breathable and light. This checks all three boxes. The adjustable cheek pads are great, and so is the float system to ensure proper fit. I ordered a Large. For reference I wore a M/L TLD drone before this.

Protect the dome piece

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Full face helmets used to be incredibly heavy and breathed terribly....the Bell Super 3 changes all that. You can easily detach the lower portion of the helmet for a climb, attach it for the descent, and add protection to your face. I have had a few spills that could have been much worse if I was not wearing the face guard portion of the helmet.
I use mine for enduro racing and big rides like Monarch Crest and the Whole Enchilada. The added protection is a massive benefit and you sacrifice very little weight when the face guard is in your pack for a big climb.
