Item # BEL0035

A custom fit every time.

Skate helmets have received a lot of love over the past few years in many different sports. They have a clean, classic look, but they don't have the greatest reputation for comfort. That's about to change, though, with the introduction of the Bell Segment Helmet.

The reason that skate-style helmets work so well is the same reason they aren't usually all that comfortable: the ABS hard shell. The folks at Bell have found a way to use the ABS shell so that it still offers that hard shell protection, but it's flexible to conform to the shape of your head. They connect interior EPS foam segments with a reinforcing skeleton that allows everything to flex. Not only does this mean greater comfort, but it offers better protection by eliminating the gaps between your helmet and your head in an ill-fitting helmet.

The Segment sports eight vents to allow air to flow freely around your head to keep it cool and dry. It's also lightweight–less than a pound–which adds to the comfort.

The Bell Segment Helmet is availbale in 3 sizes, S, M, and L. It comes in nine different color options: Matte Blue/Green Jimbo Phillips Melting Heads, Matte Titanium Taylor Reeve Afterparty, Matte Black, Matte Grey, Blue, Matte Turquoise, Burnt Orange, Matte Bone, and Matte Gray/Black Skratch 54.

  • ABS shell
  • EPS foam liner

great protector

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have used these helmets for many years for all my dirt jumping and skatepark ventures. Fits great and it has protected my dome whenever I hit the ground.

On our 3rd Bell Segment

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is the only helmet my 14 year old son will wear for dirt jumping, skating, BMX, etc....
He loves this helmet mostly because it looks good but it also fits him well.
I am sure we will be purchasing another next year.

Best Helmet

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

First, this is the most stylish helmet of its kind. It sits low enough that you don't look like a bobblehead. Next, its actually certified so it will protect you when you crash. Buy this helmet!

Plus Dome

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

So here I am, in dire need of replacing my current lid, its days are finally numbered. For whatever reasons unbeknownst to me (nostalgia?), I am still rockin' the skater style lid. After seeing the Segment, I knew I needed to be wearing it.

Gold Flake 500 por favor. Daaamn, talk about bass boatin' sparkles for days! Sure, there are some other more subdued colors it comes in, but I plan on using this for the upcoming season of SSCX. Best recognize!

Anyhow, wearing this thing, the fit is on point. Comfy and secure like a kangaroo pouch around my crown. But, but, but, here is where things turned my smile upside down... It gets hot, like cruise ship boiler room hot. I knew going in it only had like 8 vents, but dang, I seriously can't wear this in the summer time. Sure, in the fall and winter seasons, it'll keep me warm and toasty, but for right now, in the hot and humid south, no freakin' way.

Maybe you live in a cooler climate? Maybe you're one of those riders who refrains from having mid-ride sweat showers pour down your face? Whatever the case, if you answered yes to either of those, then this helmet is definitely for you. Unfortunately for me, I require a bit more air flow in the dome department, thus the search continues.
