Description

Full-9 Helmet

Bell's Full-9 helmet packages all of their engineers' expertise from motosports into a bike-specific helmet. They also gathered a year's worth of feedback from professional downhill riders to make this their flagship bike helmet. Ready to take on anything you find on your mountain or BMX bike, the Full-9 is one of the best full-face helmets money can buy.

Bell's engineers built the Full-9 with a unidirectional full carbon shell. This makes for a highly durable and incredibly lightweight helmet that doesn't weigh you down like other full-face helmets. The Overbrow Ventilation system uses 10 vents to actively channel air over your head from the front to back to keep you cool as you ride.

Bell packed the Full-9 with features to keep you safe and to enhance your overall riding experience. If you are injured, you can use Bell's Integrated Eject system, which allows safe removal of the helmet due to a recess in the EPS that allows the cheek pads to quickly slide out. And the helmet's removable, 360-degree breakaway camera mount allows your camera to pop off when you fall in any direction, protecting your neck, camera, and the helmet itself.

To make your ride more enjoyable, Bell added Soundtrax built-in speaker pockets and cable routing out the back of the helmet so you can pump tunes without getting tangled up. The helmet weighs around 1130 grams and is certified to CPSC; ASTM BMX, Downhill, and CE standards. Finishing touches include a padded chin strap with a D-ring closure, a fully-adjustable Flying Bridge visor, and removable magnetic cheekpads.

  • A motocross-inspired helmet for mountain biking and BMX riding
  • Full-face carbon shell provides unidirectional protection
  • Ventilation systems channel air over your head for a cool ride
  • Eject system and magnetic cheekpads allow helmet to be easily removed
  • Built-in speaker pockets and audio cable routing keep the music going
  • Breakaway camera mount offers the best spot of the helmet for video
  • Visor is fully adjustable to the rider’s preferred fit
  • Ages 5 and older

Good Quality Overall - Some Minor Issues

Overall this helmets seems to be good quality. It has a nice finish and the padding is very comfortable. The fit is quite snug but I'm expecting the padding will compress over time allowing it to be form fitted to my face. I did encounter a few issues out of the box. The first issue is that the plastic snap for keeping the end of the strap out of the way broke immediately when I tried to undo it after unboxing for the first time. This isn't really a big deal and I plan on riveting on a metal snap to replace it. The second issue I have is with the camera mount. It's on the top of the helmet which is less than ideal for good POV shots. The mount itself is very sturdy and has rubber padding so it doesn't damage the helmet but it is very difficult to remove and involved pushing in the removal tab and yanking really hard. I recommend using a tool for the push tab because I tried pushing the tab in with my index finger and when I pulled the mount out it sliced the skin off the tip of my finger which seems like a bit of an design oversight for safety gear...

Everything you want in a full face

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

It's light, it's tough and it's pretty well ventilated. Haven't really used it yet and hopefully I won't have to. Fit is true to size. The detachable cheek pads are top notch quality, they stay put when you want them to yet remove fairly easily. My only real complaint is that the visor doesn't come down as low as I'd like and as such doesn't block as much sun from my eyes as I'd like. Other than that, it's perfect. Oh and that carbon fiber shell looks pretty sharp in the sun!

I went through through all the big hitters (Fox, TLD, POC, 100% and Giro) flagship helmets. I couldn't find one that fit me well. Called up the nice dudes at Competitive Cyclist and was recommended the Bell Full 9 after sharing my frustration. Couldn't be happier! I took this thing out on its maiden voyage to Angel Fire NM and had a blast. The helmet is super comfy, breathable and makes me look way cooler than I actually am.

Love it.

I love this helmet. I have owned Giro Cipher helmets for years and really have enjoyed those and for the price I think they are the best helmet out. However, if you 're willing to spend an extra $100 or so I think that this helmet is well worth it. It is lighter than the cipher and the matte black color looks super sleek. It vents very well and I often forget that I'm wearing it. 5 stars all around.
