Escape to the trail.

When you're scrambling for a singletrack escape, slip yourself into the Backcountry Women's Full Suspension Short before embarking on epic rides across remote mountains or taking post-work laps through the local forest preserve. This classic pair of trail baggies emphasizes riding mobility and comfort with its articulated patterning, meaning it's neither overly baggy like some gravity-inspired apparel nor skin-tight in fit like you'd find on an XC racer.

We construct the Full Suspension Short from a double weave fabric that feels lightweight, dries quickly, and sits smoothly against your skin, as to prevent irritation on longer rides. This double weave fabric stretches in all directions for unencumbered mobility, regardless if you're muscling up a steep climb in the mountains or ripping across smooth-buffed forest trails.

To maintain a secure, slip-free fit, we integrate a webbing waist adjuster and use an aluminum hook to secure these shorts around your hips. The gusseted crotch allows you to pedal swiftly and throw your bike around corners without restriction holding you back. Additional noteworthy features include a cargo pocket for convenient storage of your trail necessities, as well as mesh-lined hand pockets that dry quickly, should you get these shorts soaked after a recent rainfall.

  • Plan your singletrack escape with these classic trail baggies
  • Articulated patterning emphasizes riding comfort and mobility
  • Double-weave fabric is soft, stretchy, and dries quickly
  • Four-way stretch and gusseted crotch for freedom of motion
  • Webbing waist adjust with aluminum hook for a slip-free fit
  • Cargo pocket for convenient storage of trail necessities
  • Mesh-lined hand pockets dry quickly during wet weather

How to Measure:
For best results, take measurements over your underwear.
Measure under your arms, around the fullest part of your chest.
Measure around your natural waistline, keeping the tape a bit loose.
Measure around the fullest part of your body at the top of your legs.
Using pants that fit well, measure the crotch seam to the bottom of the leg.

4 Way Stretch, Heck Yes

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Ok so I'm pretty short - short, athletic legs, curvy hips, long torso, small waist. Finding bottoms that aren't too big in the waist, too tight in the QUAD-zillas and/or a super awkward length is a constant challenge for me. THAT being said, these shorts fit! I wasn't sure how I'd feel about how short they were, but they were surprisingly flattering on. They fell an inch or two above my knee. When I rode, they did ride up as all shorts do, but they weren't tight or restricting in any way. Four way stretch FOR THE WIN. I had the waist cinched most of the way and had no issue with a gaping space in the back. Breathability was spot on, too. The sleek, clean black is my jam. I didn't feel any weird seams rubbing. Super comfortable and practical.

My new favorite biking shorts!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Unlike most women, I do not have an hourglass torso. This means that shorts that give room for the butt and taper in at the waist never fit. The fact that Backcountry made a pair of biking shorts that fit my body type is a miracle. Please make more pants/shorts for women with my body type! I love being able to wear these shorts without having a "saggy butt" and muffin top. These make me look good!

My new favorite biking shorts!

What size did you get? We are about the same size and I would order what you have. Thanks!

Great for women that mountain bike!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

These shorts are super comfortable with the adjustable waist and stretchy material. They are also more feminine than other "baggies" because they are a little shorter. The mesh pockets and cargo pocket can hold pretty much anything you would want to take with you on a 1 hour ride! They are going to be used on almost every ride this summer!

Great for women that mountain bike!

Great Fit

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Mountain biking shorts have been hit or miss for me. They're either too long, too baggy, or the waist construction is way off and leaves a huge gap in the back. I found these shorts to be perfect. I'm 5'2" and the length was great and fell above the knee. The shorts were also slimmer through the thigh than other MTB shorts I've tried so they looked more flattering but still leaves room if you like to wear knee pads. Lastly, the waist adjustment feature is spot on. On the first adjustment there was a gap in the back but once I tightened it to the 2nd adjustment it was perfect and it laid flat and stayed put.

Too long for me

First things first, I am 5'3" and 110 pounds. I ordered a small, but should have gotten an XS because there is quite a bit of space in the waist. I love the fit on my legs though with this size, they aren't too tight. Super flattering on my legs. They are also a little too long for my sorter proportions, but I know that'll help with coverage. Overall I really like the material idea of the shorts, I just need to size down and hopefully the other problems will love themselves! Will update review once I am able to try them out!

What is the length of these shorts? And do they include a chamois?

    Hey Linda,

Is there a size chart available? Do these run big or small?

Tralina, We just put it up and it should show here in the next 10 minutes or so, let me know at if you have any other questions or issues!

What is the inseam length of these short?. Also, do they come with a chamois liner?

Hey Lisa, These shorts have a 9 inch inseam. They do not include a chamois, so feel free to use your favorite chamois.
