Description

Zegho G2 Dragonfly Cycling Sunglasses

Throughout the cycling industry, Assos has long been synonymous with innovation, and a feverish approach to seeking perfection. As such, the brand has long stood on its own in the fringes of the most elite cycling wear, often competing against itself for progression, and the new Zegho G2 Dragonfly Cycling Sunglasses are no different. The G2 is the direct result of some of the industries finest minds combining technology that's perfected for the peloton, with Carl Zeiss lenses, featherweight frames, and feedback from the top professional cyclists to fine-tune the shades to the peak of standards.

The Zegho glasses (pronounced Zay-go), is a different beast than the typical eyewear we come across in the sporting world. Just by glancing at them you'll find that the design cues look to come from the runway shoes used for debuting Assos clothing lines. The look not only stands out against others, but turns heads. The Zegho is futuristic while being contemporary, and balance aesthetics with practicality. These attributes are quite typical of Assos, which is evidence that its design is just as smart and thorough as its paradigm-changing bibs and jackets.

Assos paired up once again the lens pioneers at Carl Zeiss Vision, who lead the race to find the most progressive and technology-laden lenses on the market. Zeiss has a reputation for providing lenses of amazing clarity, and you'll find just that with the Dragonfly Copper lens featured on this particular model. Dragonfly Copper features a slight pink tint that balances colors to provide higher contrast vision, particularly excelling in variable lighting, and low light conditions. Their elevated contrast improves clarity of potholes and variations in the road, so you can spot upcoming turbulence and have the opportunity to avoid unfortunate encounters on uneven tarmac. As we've seen with other Zeiss lenses, these feature Ri-Pel technology on both the back and front of the lens to shed oil and water for better performance, regardless of the conditions.

The G2 frame pairs with Zeiss' G2 V-Toric lens, which wears lighter, with a more aggressive low profile shape than the original Zegho. This shift in lens stature sheds weight, scaling in at only 27.5-grams — a weight so feathery that we suspect you'll forget they're even there as soon as you start pedaling. The lens pairs up with innovative frames that feature new triggerClick system for lens changes, with a simple push-to-change system that makes lens swaps safe and fast, and puts no strain on the lens, preventing potential for damage. The temples use TR-90 technology, which feature a wide connect interface where they meet with the lens, boosting durability to the connection point, before transitioning to the ZeroPressure shape that mirrors the curvature of your head for comfort on the ride.

  • Assos' signature cycling frames shed weight for race season
  • New ultra-light lens drops total weight down to 27.5-grams
  • Dragonfly Copper lens is ideal for variable and low lighting
  • Elevated contrast improves clarity of potholes and variation in road
  • Ri-Pel technology is hydro-and-oliophobic, sheds water and oil
  • triggerClick system simplifies and speeds lens changes
  • Contoured temple zone mirrors curvature of your head for comfort
  • Lens provides total protection from UVA and UVB rays

best cycling sunglasses i have ever worn

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

i have worn rudy proj, oakley, and 100%
these shades are just one notch bellow the feeling of wearing bibs w/ chamois for the first time
getting glasses to fit while wearing a helmet is tedious, and nearly always some in-flight adjustments are routine
assos just stay out of the way; i never need to adjust mid ride;--except to check if i am still wearing them
they rarely fog, they don't hold moisture, and the lens surface is large enough that i never feel the wind in my eyes
the frameless design has several advantages: very easy to clean (ie, no smudges at the frame edge) and very low weight; the latter keeps them from sliding down
likewise, there is zero distortion from this big lens
the tunnel vision is an effective, low-tech solution to quickly changing brightness
if i were to buy based solely or substantially on aesthetics , maybe POC. still i don't think these are ugly by any means; the minimalist, if not handsome is at least inconspicuous
