Trail Cargo Shorts

Assos' Trail Cargo Shorts are built to survive seasons of all-mountain riding while providing a dialed fit thanks to its use of technical textiles. It'll keep you comfortable and well protected on the singletrack and its trailFit cut is roomy, yet forgoes excessive material at the crotch, helping prevent saddle snags. Additionally, the Trail Cargo is the ideal length and can be worn with or without pads.

Assos scrutinized other baggies on the market, carefully analyzing their panels, fasteners, webbing, and zippers and how they contribute to unnecessary weight and uncomfortable pedaling. It decided to go with a minimal approach and use its Type.OF11 adaptable textile for the primary panels. It’s an extremely durable and lightweight bi-stretch woven material that’s highly abrasion resistant, fast-drying, offers UPF50+ protection, and receives a DWR treatment to fend off rain and mud.

Its AZPtech (abdomZeroPressure) construction uses a soft and highly elastic material that helps improve the comfort and fit at the waist panel for a smooth, comfortable wrap without excessive, unnecessary pressure. You'll also notice that the circumference of the legs is more tapered than its competitors which helps increase pedaling comfort and reduces hang-ups on trail foliage and your saddle. Assos recommends pairing these with its Trail Liner Shorts for all-day comfort and support.

  • Assos' refined mountain baggy for the discerning rider
  • Type.OF11 panels are abrasion resistant, lightweight, and fast-drying
  • Treated with a DWR treatment to protect from the rain and mud
  • AZPtech waist construction improves the comfort and hold at the waist
  • Two zippered center-thigh pockets carry riding essentials
  • trailFit offers room in the saddle but is never restrictive
  • Refined inseam length is ideal with or without pads

PERFECT with your Hip Pack

I've put it through the wringer
True to size

WOW. What a utility piece. I anticipated the high quality and comfort, but what i did not anticipate was needing to buy another pair just so I can have another pair (or two) to share the saddle time. I wore these shorts for 6 days straight and can't say enough good things about the fit, function and overall last. i am most impressed that they fit me on day 6 the same as day one. Stretchy but hold the shape amazingly well. The fit on these shorts is out-of-this-world. I wear an EVOC Hip Pack and was regularly fussing about my shorts - the button, zipper, Velcro, whatever - always being in the way. I was not able to get the pack to fit me as well as i wanted and/or i was just less comfortable. The Assos Trail Short Changed that for me. The waistband is like that of your favorite yoga pants, and over a slick pair of Rally shorts I am protected, super comfy, and ready for the long day on the dirt. Sure there are days when a hip pack is still not enough, so i find myself even of those days going after my Assos shorts ... they are my favorite - what can i say! I am between a S and M for most bottoms but feel best in a M for these shorts. I am pumped about the overall length and fit. Solid choice if you wear a hip pack, or ditch it for a super sleek and aero feel, that's up to you! Just get the shorts.

Awesome review. Would you still reach for these in the middle of the summer? I would think the water proof coating and black color might make them hot. I hope you will convince me otherwise, because I want them. :) :)
