The TiburuGiletLaalalai Vest marks the first women's specific gilet from Assos. Its cut is designed for the female physique while preventing unwanted bunching when the pockets are full and in the cycling position. This fit and its innovative and high-quality materials, ensure that this vest is able to follow your every movement while offering excellent levels of ventilation during the variable weather conditions of spring and fall.
Assos crafted this vest based on its highly successful falkenZahn but redesigned its materials and design to be more breathable and packable. It did so by revising its side panels, shoulders, and the rear utilizing the same high-performance fabric used in the équipe jersey. On the front, panels are constructed with twinDeck foil insulation to keep you protected on the chilliest descents. TwinDeck is a dual layer construction of Assos' RXQ and Tibet fabrics. This allows the best features of both materials so the vest is breathable and packable, while better able to adjust to fluctuating temperatures during the shoulder seasons. RXQ, thanks to its brushed surface and checkered structure, provides excellent thermal regulation and wicks moisture, while Tibet is a circular polypropylene knit, that works with the RXQ to further add thermal insulation and manage sweat.
Assos built this jersey for racing and has every intention that it'll see competition and spirited rides and as such, it employs its racingFit. RacingFit is tighter and slightly more compressive than its regularFit and comfortFit so it'll fit like a second skin when in the cycling position, leaving it to feel slightly restrictive while off the bike. This ensures more comfort during higher efforts and less wind drag. A taped waist allows for minimal seams for less bulk and does a better job retaining heat.
When it's time to head up that climb again, an easy to use cam lock zip with a welded bottom seam reduces friction and makes opening the vest for climate control effortless. The contrast zipper matches the Sens Tex reflective stripes on the shoulders. This unique look is the result of a perforated double-layer of the Sens textile. Additionally, the internal color-coordinated yellow accents denote that this vest belongs in the climaRange season, so you'll know exactly what other Assos garments you'll need to complete the kit.
Last but not least, the rear of this vest gets a host of technical features too. It's constructed from Stabilizator S7 Knit allowing for a lightweight material, improving breathability, while still remaining sturdy enough not to sag when the pockets are loaded up. Speaking of pockets, this vest employs Assos' Triple ramp concept pockets, placing them at the optimal height for easy access and prevents any contents in the pockets from getting jettisoned over rough roads. Just below the pockets along the hem, a light-absorbing rear elastic allows the vest to fit securely and the reflective strip absorbs light and emits it when it's dark such as entering tunnels and riding in low light conditions.
Ultimately, this vest will help keep your core warm on cold mornings and chilly descents, without causing you to overheat when the temps or the pace pick up. Assos recommends using the TiburuGiletLaalalai Vest with a short-sleeved jersey and skinFoil baselayer, or if the temperatures are a little warmer, you can forego the jersey and just use the vest as a top layer over a long-sleeved skinFoil baselayer. If the mercury is dipping, it’s an excellent mid-layer over a long-sleeved winter baselayer and under the Sturm-Prinz or other ASSOS winter jacket.
