The lowly gilet can often make or break a ride, especially rides that tend to climb and descend during the shoulder seasons. When a shell is too much and a jersey isn't enough, having a light, packable vest is an essential part of your wardrobe and can add comfort and versatility to your racing, touring, and commuting. The TiburuGiletEquipe is a spring and fall cycling vest that you'll reach for on every ride. It's a lightweight, stretchy package where the front panels use Assos' TwinDeck double layer fabric with a fleece outer that draws moisture away from the skin so heat stays at your core. That barrier is reinforced with taped seams at the front to prevent road spray from soaking you.

The rear of the TiburuGiletEquipe uses RXQ, an insulating two way-stretch, open-knit microfiber so it's breathable and fast-drying. A camlock zipper dumps heat on the climbs and the welded bottom seam prevents hem migration, keeping cold drafts at bay. The Assos fit is second to none, and the Advance Ergonomic Pattern Design helps this vest contour to your body without applying too much pressure when on the bike so you'll get optimal muscle compression, reduced muscle fatigue, and all-day comfort.

The rear stabilizer panel keeps the tiburuGiletEquipe in place with a 2-way stretch material with minimal give on the vertical axis. This creates stable, high capacity pockets that eliminate sagging, and the Super Level triple ramp concept realigns the pockets for the most convenient access and ensures you don't yardsale your tube and ride fuel on bumpy roads. On the shoulders, Sens Tex fabric increases freedom of movement and ventilation. The shoulders also feature reflective piping that helps visibility for riding in low light, giving the vest visibility in each of the available colorways.

Assos recommends pairing this vest with a short-sleeve jersey and a skinFoil baselayer if it's cool or forgoing the jersey and wearing the vest as a top layer over a long-sleeve skinFoil baselayer. If it looks like it might be cooler, you can wear it over a long-sleeve jersey, and on the coldest days, wear it as a mid-layer over a long-sleeve winter baselayer and under the sturmPrinz rainshell.

Note: Assos clothing has a very slimming, anatomic cut, if your build is less than slim or if you like your fit looser, go up in size.

How to Measure:
For best results, take measurements over your underwear.
Measure around the widest part of your chest.
Bend to the side and measure around the place where your waist bends, keeping the tape a bit loose.

Do you have the TiburuGiletEquipe in all-black, size L?

Hi Gary, The drop down menu will show what is currently available. At this time I do not have any stock of black. Cheers

race fit vest

I've used it several times

This vest is form fitting almost like a second jersey and is very aerodynamic. Excellent design as it can keep you warm (I think it is ideal for temp btw 50 - 70 deg) and also has incredible ventilation in the back. It is also thin and light. I do not miss the assos logo at all if it saves 2g.

Sizing comment

Runs small

I had been looking for a lightweight vest that could add insulation when needed on cold rides but could then be stuffed in my storage bottle if I got too hot. Most of the vests in the cycling industry are windproof layers meant to be worn outside a jersey. This Assos vest was exactly what I was looking for- not too thick, very compact and breathable rather than windproof-a light, wicking layer. The upper chest area is a two-layer fabric while the vest of the vest is single layer. Perfectly executed and beautifully stitched. My only complaint was the sizing. I’m 5’9” and 145 lbs and the medium is much tighter than I’d prefer. I realize this is meant to be worn as a mid layer so you want it snug but I had to really stretch the vest to get it to zip and I fear it will bunch up the jersey underneath. I’d recommend going up one size despite what the size chart says.

Good for intermediate temps

This vest is great for intermediate temperatures or the photographers golden hours on the bike (sunrise or sunset). I find it most comfortable in the 55-70 degree range and paired with the some type of long sleeved base layer underneath. As with the Tiburu jacket there is not much actual insulation in the vest, so if you wear it against your skin you will get cold, though the base layer, ride tempo and terrain will have a big impact on how comfortable you feel. I find this more true with vests than with jackets, so your experience may vary. Fit is typical assos: snug but not tight, and very comfortable on the bike. I think it looks pretty good in black. I quite like this vest and recommend it, but it gets four stars because I think it's not very good value for money, especially because it is best combined with a base layer, and also because in my opinion it is not very good when worn over a jersey. There are other gilet options that will provide better insulation, and will also provide better weather protection. I wear long sleeves or arm covers on every ride (very sun sensitive), so a vest plus base layer is appealing to me, but I am not sure that this vest really fills a need unless you are like me and want another long-sleeve option in the locker.
