Mille GT Bib Short

Based on the T.milleshorts_s7 that has so long been a favorite of riders and racers, the Mille GT Bib brings us a redesigned insert and graphics in the same quality fit we love from Assos. Like its predecessor, the Mille GT is the workhorse short from Assos, built for riding, training, and racing.

The Mille GT are built with Assos' Type.429 Lycra blend. This durable fabric is incredibly supportive, hard-wearing, soft on the skin, and lightweight enough to be appropriate throughout summer. It provides exceptional breathability, and rapidly transfers moisture to its quick-drying outer surface. While that level of moisture management is general across most well-made cycling shorts, the feel of the material identifies the Mille GT as Assos quality by touch alone. This exclusive textile provides the ideal blend of compressive support and low weight for cyclists who may dabble in racing but are primarily into cycling for the sheer love of the sport.

Assos again crafts the Mille bibs with their Y7 Frame Carrier design, which places the front of the straps further toward the obliques rather than the center of the torso. This placement provides both better support and more clearance to fully expand your diaphragm while riding. The strap design also keeps them closer to the torso, rather than creating a gap, so that they better mimic the body’s movements. The waist and leg grippers of the Mille GT Bibs ensure a smooth transition from body to fabric with minimalist grip and pressure

Those already converted to Assos shorts’ comfort will notice a new colorway to their proven chamois construction. The change in color, from the amethyst purple to this basalt black, is an easy way to identify the latest insert. The Mille S7 EVO features the same 8mm thick memory foam with a 3D waffle upper, which increases airflow. The all-new kraterCooler system furthers ventilation through the short, with small perforations in the front of the insert to draw air through the foam. Like the previous S7 insert, the Mille S7 EVO also has Assos’ patented goldenGate construction, which interrupts the stitching along both of the chamois' side panels, allowing a greater freedom of movement in this sensitive, rotational area. To reduce friction even further, Assos extends the chamois' thinly-padded sides over this short-to-chamois junction, making the transition against your skin as smooth as possible.

  • A classic cycling short tailored for long-distance cycling
  • More forgiving waist fit adds comfort to performance
  • Gently compressive Lycra offers confident support and stretch
  • AEPD fit wraps muscles rather than formlessly stretching
  • Redesigned chamois adds cushion without undue bulk
  • Lie-flat bib straps sit wide to eliminate gaps
  • Elastic leg cuffs ensure fit without pinching

Note: Assos clothing has a very slimming, anatomic cut, if your build is less than slim or if you like your fit looser, go up in size.

How to Measure:
For best results, take measurements over your underwear.
Measure around the widest part of your chest.
Bend to the side and measure around the place where your waist bends, keeping the tape a bit loose.

Fatal Flaw

I've used it several times

Purchased these at a local bike shop. I love the way they fit and they pretty comfortable EXCEPT for amazing flaw! The middle seam that runs from the back of the short to the front is not flat! This is the same issue noted in a previous review here. However I feel under the chamois on my perineum. Can’t ride with at all. Shop told me Assos has a 90 day ride and try return policy. We will see if that is true.

I love these bibs and continue to buy them despite Assos not accepting warranty issues with the crotch fading area of the fabric. I recently purchased 2 pairs and experiencing issue again! These are not the only bibs I have either. Pros: the fit, compressions and padding are excellent.

Perfect fit, silky smooth, otherworldly chamois, great heat dissipation and these are the mid level shorts? Soo good!

Bang for buck!

I prefer not to look at these bibs as Assos lower end, so much as a top competitor in their price range. They are Assos bibs no mistake about it! Material and construction are very good. The chamois is more than well suited for medium distance, and an excellent design that complements my comfort needs. And for me, these bibs have that Assos lock in feel. For the price, I can’t ask for more. BTW I have a pair of 8 year old Assos bibs with probably 20K on that set. I still find them comfortable.

This is your basic assos bib for everyday riding. The chamois is worth the price alone, but the material of the bib is nothing to brag about. It is functional and for everyday riding works well. Best bang for the buck compared to more expensive bibs. If you're 5'7" or shorter, this bib may be too long so go for the more expensive assos bibs which tend to have shorter lengths. For a taller rider, this bib works great. I wear this bib myself despite owning much more expensive ones. Again, best bang for the buck! If you're coming from a cycling shorts to a bib, this will be 100% better.

Terrible Quality 40 year Assos Customer

I've used it several times

First I have been buying Assos since 1980 and I have always felt they are worth the extra money until I bought this pair. Terrible quality. Poor workmanship and cheap material. The Lycra is nothing like any of my past Assos bibs. Thin and cheap. Second who ever sewed the seams is a sadist. Edges are so sharp the dug into my back. I wanted to rip these off after only 10 km and ride home naked they hurt that much. See the photo of the seam. The Pad is nothing like any of my other Assos bibs. Again cheap and thin.

This guy is 100% correct. This exact seam feels like someone rubbing a sharp little piece of plastic on my back the entire time. I washed the garment hoping it improved, but it did not.

the best bibs i've ever used are hands down the assos equipe rs s9 bibs. but those are $250 a pop, which is slightly ridiculous. these mille ones are (almost) as good and i use them for the quick ~2hr rides during the week and they are comfortable, durable (have been using for past 2 years with minimal wear to the chamois) and (sort of) affordable. highly recommend i wear medium- 5'9, 145lbs, 30in inseam

This is the second pair of shorts I will return due to inaccurate size specs. Looks like a great pair of short but the legs are too long and the elastic is too big and does not grip my legs.
