Description

Why We Like The Mille GT Bib Short

Based on the T.milleshorts_s7 that has so long been a favorite of ours, the Mille GT Bib brings us a redesigned insert and graphics in the same quality fit we love from Assos. Like its predecessor, the Mille GT is the workhorse short from Assos, built for riding, training, and racing, too.

Those already converted to Assos shorts’ comfort will notice a new colorway to their proven chamois construction. The change in color, from the amethyst purple to this basalt black, is an easy way to identify the latest insert. The Mille S7 EVO features the same 8mm thick memory foam with a 3D waffle upper, which increases airflow. The all-new kraterCooler system furthers ventilation through the short, with small perforations in the front of the insert to draw air through the foam. Like the previous S7 insert, the Mille S7 EVO also has Assos’ patented goldenGate construction, which interrupts the stitching along both of the chamois' side panels, allowing greater freedom of movement in this sensitive, rotational area. To reduce friction even further, Assos extends the chamois' thinly-padded sides over this short-to-chamois junction, making the transition against your skin as smooth as possible.

  • A classic cycling short tailored for long-distance cycling
  • More forgiving waist fit adds comfort to performance
  • Gently compressive Lycra offers confident support and stretch
  • AEPD fit wraps muscles rather than formlessly stretching
  • Redesigned chamois adds cushion without undue bulk
  • Lie-flat bib straps sit wide to eliminate gaps
  • Elastic leg cuffs ensure fit without pinching

Note: Assos clothing has a very slimming, anatomic cut, if your build is less than slim or if you like your fit looser, go up in size.

How to Measure:
For best results, take measurements over your underwear.
Chest:
Measure around the widest part of your chest.
Waist:
Bend to the side and measure around the place where your waist bends, keeping the tape a bit loose.

Runs small. I had to size up, but fit is great once I found my size. Not sure about the chamois. I went for a 2 hour ride to test them out and my behind was hurting in these bibs when I haven't had issues with some other brands. These are GT. I also bought a GTS pair I hope is better.

I have been wearing Chamois for a few years now and decided to try Bibs after much research and advise from a few friends. “Once you try them you’ll never wear shorts again”, was their mantra. They were absolute right! These Assos Mille GT Bibs are extremely comfortable, have great compression, and easy to pull down the front to relieve yourself out on the trail. No hot points, no nipple rub, just a perfect fit and feel. I’m about to purchase a second pair. I ride MTB, and wear them under my shorts and shirt.

Sharp material and scratchy where the shoulder straps connect on the back. The shoulder straps themselves are extremely tight, almost like they are not long enough (6'1" 180lbs - bought size L). The straps are very thin and seriously chafe my nipples. After an hour long ride I'm in serious pain, might have to Band-Aid before using. Chamois feels very low quality and not stitched all the way around, small movements on the saddle can lead to bunching. Very disappointed and would not recommend. Much prefer my Pearl Izumi, Gore, and Louis Garneau.

Good fit info. Thanks.

Wanted to save my pricier Assos bibs for use on the road, so on my trainer I was using several year old Pearl Izumis that were a size too big for me. When I saw these on deep discount I grabbed a pair, figuring at that price they cost in the same ballpark as any other bibs. A huge improvement over my previous bibs, I actually look forward to ugly weather forcing me onto the trainer! The chamois works well. Yes the material is thin, but that helps shed heat from training. Assos rates them as summer bibs. Sizing seems right: I take M in other Assos bibs and M in these fits me perfectly. So far I haven't experienced any of the weird problems others have reported here. Even without a base layer the straps don't cut into me, their location seems fine, and I don't feel the central seam at all. My other Assos bibs all have the same center seam arrangement, no problem with them either.

This is the response i received from Brogran@ Competitive Cyclist. Thanks for the photos! I am sorry to report that the photos are not indicative of a defect, but rather wear and tear from use. I apologize for the inconvenience this may be. I bought 2 pairs of them 2/2021 and I also others in rotation. I started noticing the fading in the crotch area. My other Assos bibs (same style), i have never had any issues with Assos. Now CC is telling me its a wear and tear issues. YOU LOST ANOTHER CUSTOMER.

Good luck finding a better company for your cycling gear...you wont.

The straps on these bibs are wide and placed further out which sounded great until it became apparent 15 miles into my first ride that for me at least the inside edge of the straps was chafing my neeps. Ouch! I also feel the sizing runs smaller, which I've experience before with Assos, so maybe I should have ordered L not M and that would have helped with the strap problem too. Unlucky for me I didn't use them until about 5 weeks after purchase so they won't take them back either.

Horrible. Really? And no response from CC here to your public complaint. Hmm.

Purchased these at a local bike shop. I love the way they fit and they pretty comfortable EXCEPT for amazing flaw! The middle seam that runs from the back of the short to the front is not flat! This is the same issue noted in a previous review here. However I feel under the chamois on my perineum. Can’t ride with at all. Shop told me Assos has a 90 day ride and try return policy. We will see if that is true.

I love these bibs and continue to buy them despite Assos not accepting warranty issues with the crotch fading area of the fabric. I recently purchased 2 pairs and experiencing issue again! These are not the only bibs I have either. Pros: the fit, compressions and padding are excellent.

I prefer not to look at these bibs as Assos lower end, so much as a top competitor in their price range. They are Assos bibs no mistake about it! Material and construction are very good. The chamois is more than well suited for medium distance, and an excellent design that complements my comfort needs. And for me, these bibs have that Assos lock in feel. For the price, I can’t ask for more. BTW I have a pair of 8 year old Assos bibs with probably 20K on that set. I still find them comfortable.

Workhorse

This is your basic assos bib for everyday riding. The chamois is worth the price alone, but the material of the bib is nothing to brag about. It is functional and for everyday riding works well. Best bang for the buck compared to more expensive bibs. If you're 5'7" or shorter, this bib may be too long so go for the more expensive assos bibs which tend to have shorter lengths. For a taller rider, this bib works great. I wear this bib myself despite owning much more expensive ones. Again, best bang for the buck! If you're coming from a cycling shorts to a bib, this will be 100% better.

First I have been buying Assos since 1980 and I have always felt they are worth the extra money until I bought this pair. Terrible quality. Poor workmanship and cheap material. The Lycra is nothing like any of my past Assos bibs. Thin and cheap. Second who ever sewed the seams is a sadist. Edges are so sharp the dug into my back. I wanted to rip these off after only 10 km and ride home naked they hurt that much. See the photo of the seam. The Pad is nothing like any of my other Assos bibs. Again cheap and thin.

First

This guy is 100% correct. This exact seam feels like someone rubbing a sharp little piece of plastic on my back the entire time. I washed the garment hoping it improved, but it did not.

the best bibs i've ever used are hands down the assos equipe rs s9 bibs. but those are $250 a pop, which is slightly ridiculous. these mille ones are (almost) as good and i use them for the quick ~2hr rides during the week and they are comfortable, durable (have been using for past 2 years with minimal wear to the chamois) and (sort of) affordable. highly recommend i wear medium- 5'9, 145lbs, 30in inseam

This is the second pair of shorts I will return due to inaccurate size specs. Looks like a great pair of short but the legs are too long and the elastic is too big and does not grip my legs.
