Description

T Equipe Evo Short

For over four decades, the Assos name has represented the highest quality cycling apparel designed to help professionals and cyclist like you, perform at your best. Steady refinements over the years have us at the S7 Generation of shorts, which includes these all new T Equipe Evo Short, representing 5 years of engineering helping foster new technologies and materials that represents the Swiss brand's identity towards race-tuned perfection. The goal with these shorts was to produce super comfortable everyday bibs, borrowing heavily from the brand's T.Tiburu, T.Cento, and T.Campionissimo bibs, allowing every cyclist the opportunity to experience Assos bibs.

Assos crafts the T Equipe Evo from a textile known as Type.439 Diadema. This material is specific to Assos and it worked with its fabric supplier to create a superior material designed for the rigors of cycling. As soon as you put on the bibs, the first thing you'll notice is it's incredibly comfortable and supportive. In use, while out for a ride, its exceptional breathability is prized as it rapidly transfers moisture to its quick-drying outer surface. This smooth fabric has a weave of two different rates of 4-way stretch which provides a moderately compressive hold, supporting hard-working leg muscles. This helps shield muscles from fatigue-inducing effects of muscle oscillation typical of riding over rougher roads. This Type.439 material is finished with an iceColor application, which reflects sunlight and thus reduces heat absorption helping keep muscles cooler. While designing skinsuits for the 2012 Olympics, Assos developed a design known as Aero Patterning Fenomeno1. It allows for construction of the garment with a single seam on the rear of your legs so the main fabric can provide more compression and support as it wraps around your thighs. And at the leg openings, the Super Flat Grippers are minimal offering optimal stretch holding the cuffs in place without any excessive pressure.

The Assos fit is unique and these particular bibs are more form-fitting and compressive than its regularFit and comfortFit options. As such, it provides a slightly asymmetrical compressive hold that stretches more around your body, rather than vertically. This stretch works to firmly secure the shorts in place, for better aerodynamics and comfort while down in the cycling position, feeling more dialed while stretched out to the bars and slightly more restrictive when off the bike. This feeling has long been known to Assos' devoted followers as the signature "click on" fit. Y7 Frame Carrier Bib Tech further bolsters this cycling specific support and by utilizing wider cuts of elastic, the pressure is better distributed on the shoulders. These wider straps allow the uppers to better hug the torso so it follows your body's movements for better support.

Perhaps the most important feature of cycling shorts is the chamois. This new insert, known as the equipeEVO_S7 comes in a distinctive black color. Further refinements include cutouts at the front known ad Krater Ventilation, for increased airflow helping to improve comfort on longer, hotter rides.

As one of the most technologically advanced chamois on the market, Assos' superiority comes from its extensive product testing and support of the sport's finest. The engineers began with an 8mm-thick memory foam material as its shock absorbing composition and ability to return to its original position throughout the pedal stroke provides comfort, whether it’s a recovery day or turning the pedals in anger. The Assos Waffle design makes an appearance with its perforated design working to increase breathability while shedding weight. Additionally, this dimpling, combined with the ultra-soft microfiber top sheet, effectively pulls moisture from within the layers below, which allows it to dry much quicker than the previous _s5 chamois. Once the chamois layup was up to their standards, the engineers began rethinking the way a traditional chamois is attached to the shorts. This led to a design called Golden Gate, which removes the stitching along both of the chamois' side panels, allowing for three-dimensional freedom of movement and a floating chamois of sorts. The reduction of seams helps further reduce friction and an anti-bacterial treatment is utilized to improve hygiene and reduce odors.

The Assos T Equipe Evo is available in seven sizes from X-Small to TIR and in the colors Black Silverfever, Nationalred, Blackseriesm, and Profblack.
  • Racing shorts refined with Assos' apparel experience
  • Compressive fabrics comfortably support muscles
  • Signature "click-on" fit disappears when you're in the saddle

I'm 5'11" & 150 lbs. I followed the size chart recommendation, and purchased medium shorts. These short are very tight (too tight) and too short. I like the chamois, but not crazy about the material used in the rest of the shorts.

My first pair of Assos in 15 years of riding. I can't believe they are so short, feel like I am wearing hot pants. I would return if I hadn't worn them for a ride. they are comfortable enough I guess and the straps fit fine. For the price I paid I should have stuck with Giordana's.

Very good reaction at this point. Chamois is marvelous. The only problem is that it takes a while to dry after washing. I like the length. I especially appreciate the short distance between the waist band and the bottom of the crotch. It's as if it packages the male package. I have been looking for this kind of fit forever, having claimed that someone could design bike shorts that have what is almost a pouch. These are it, I think. The constant adjustment of myself is eliminated. Maybe I have discovered the holy grail. I originally thought that the eye glass feature seemed a bit ridiculous. But I discovered that that feature is really a gift. It works, much to my surprise. I have worn these several times now. Yes, the most comfortable bibs I've worn.

Great fit for me, like the extra room for the family jewels, comfortable chamois, non-irritating straps. I find the grips at the thighs less than optimal. The legs tend to ride up when I'm on the drops and bunch outboard of the chamois.

I’ve been wearing Assos Shorts and knickers for years and years and love them. I like the fit, pad, and leg length. I have a 32” waist, and have always worn a large. Large just fits like I think shorts should fit. I ordered two of these Equipe Evo shorts in large, but they’re kind of a slim fit...slimmer than me anyway. I’m 5’7” and weigh 157. I should have ordered XL instead, they would fit a little better. I’m happy enough to keep them, they’re a shade tighter than I like them, but ok. The pad is VERY comfortable, as usual and the straps are a flat thin elastic material which I think is an improvement over their previous designs. Do buy these, if you can afford them...they’re worth the money and comfort. If your not on the thin side, you may need to go up at least one size or possibly two.

I cannot begin to describe how perfect these bib shorts are. This is my second ASSOS pair, first on the Equipe range, and I really understand why these are said to be the best shorts around. Even with the racing fit, these aren't uncomfortable at all. Sure, they're a bit more tight on your legs, but once you're on the saddle, it feels like a second skin. The chamois is perfect, with the already-tested Golden Gate technology. However I do feel this technology is a bit superior than its predecessor. At least, my bottom agrees. The bib straps are perfect, the details are perfect, the texture screams premium and it feels perfect. I have 4 other bib shorts, 2 from Rapha, 1 PAS Normal and the aforementioned Assos T_Mille. But these are certainly the jewel of the crown.

After riding these I see why Assos has the reputation it does. The cut is very anatomical and the chamois is excellent. However, the fact that the chamois isn't stitched all the way around was an issue to me. I get that they're trying to remove a source of irritation, but trust me, a little seam isn't nearly as irritating as a bunched up chamois like happened to me. It was just on one leg, so maybe a small QA issue or a slightly odd fit on my part, but still a totally unnecessary issue that shouldn't occur especially with a "premium" product like this. Guess what? I stitched it down and no more problem - Assos could have just done so from the start and saved me the hassle. I'd say they run about half a size too small, I'm 6'0", 150, 31" waist, which all would be on the lower end of the large range, and I find the large a tiny bit on the tight side. If I was any bigger it wouldn't work. If in doubt size up.

I have a variety of shorts and Assos rank up there in first. I've only used them on my indoor trainer and I have only one comment in that the chamois, although the most comfortable one I've owned is a little thin. Final review is when I can get outside and try them. Quality all the way around.

    Lacks Durability!

    Familiarity:
    I've used it several times
    Fit:
    Runs small

These shorts are great comfort and fit-wise, but the pair I received seriously lack durability. After 5 months - estimate 20 rides in these shorts - the shorts developed a hole in the inner leg area. Unfortunately the Assos warranty is only 3 months - I'm trying my luck with the repair service.

I also had the same issue (the hole).

I had the same problem with all my bib shorts. Holes rubbing on my inner thigh area. The problem is not with the bib but with the bike. Check your seat post where the saddle clamps to the post. If your legs are rubbing on the clamp It might be eating your bibs and you don’t know it. Solution for me was to buy a new seat post. Check out a one bolt seat post. I’ve been riding on it for almost three months now and no issues or signs of bibs with holes. Hope this helps.

These are fabulous, like a great pair of sunglasses you nearly forget you're wearing. I almost always have a bit of rub in the saddle area with Castelli, Pearl, Ornot, and with these I don't. Worth the money, like others I ordered a 2nd pair. I like my kits tight/racy and by the size chart I was a Medium, had to return for a Large and they still have plenty of compression. If you're quite slender they should fit by the chart, bigger thighs or buttocks I'd recommend sizing up.

Several months ago I purchased both the Giordana FR-C Pro Bib Short and the Assos T Equipe Evo Shorts. When first trying them on I liked the fit of the Assos shorts however after a number of rides I much prefer the Giordana shorts. The fabric is more compressive than the Assos which feels thin and flimsy. I am comfortable during a 30+ mile ride in the Girodana shorts while the Assos shorts are a real pain in the but before I am half way through the same ride.
