Legendary Assos-ness.

Maybe the Assos SS.skinFoilSpring/Fall_s7 Body Insulator has a handle that will tie your tongue in knots, but it's not actually that complicated if you break it down. Allow us: SkinFoil is Assos' name for its body-hugging, temperature-regulating baselayers, which are constructed with no visible seams to eliminate chafing and enhance mobility. A blend of nylon and polyester moves moisture quickly away from your skin, and the compressive fit helps support muscles to decrease fatigue. SS stands for, reasonably, short sleeve, which is pretty self-explanatory, and Spring/Fall denotes — ready? — the seasons in which the midweight skinFoil is designed to excel. Finally, the s7 suffix indicates that the skinFoil is part of Assos' newest line, which takes the already legendary Assos ethos to the next level.

Assos Does It Right!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Large

Top quality fabric and great design makes for a great fit. At 5’10” and 158 lbs. with a broader upper back I tried the medium. While it could work, it’s just a bit too tight. I prefer snug without extra fabric and the large is perfect for my frame. It wicks moisture very well. Will buy another.

Best base layer

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: XLG/TIR

Hands down this is the best base layer if worn since I started cycling almost 7 years ago. I have both the short and long sleeve versions. Top notch quality and great fit. Usually pair it with arm, knee warmers and gilet for my morning rides. Very seldom do I have to use a jacket in San Antonio TX. Will be purchasing both versions in the near future.

Invisible base layer - Perfect choice

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

I wore this to ride the Gran Fondo New York. Temperatures were expected to be in the 40s while waiting at the start on the GW Bridge and in the 60s during the ride. I paired this base layer with the ASSOS arm warmers, the GFNY Biemme race jersey, and alternated wearing a Castelli rain jacket. The base layer performs exactly as advertised. When I was putting in an effort on the climbs, the wicking properties kept me cool and dry. When descending Bear Mountain at 41 mph, it kept the chill off my chest. The fit is spot on - fits snug without binding. I asked for and received advise from the CC Staff and they were absolutely correct in their suggestion on this base layer being what I needed given the anticipated temperatures. They know the product and gave great advice.
