The hardiest of them all.

Assos pays homage to the birthplace of 'cross and its reigning world champion, the grueling cobblestones of Flanders, the delicious fare of waffle rides, and every kind of frites with its SS.neoPro Belgium Short Sleeve Jersey. As a country whose cyclists have been riding through, over, and around brutal terrain in three different centuries, Belgium is a defining part of cycling culture. Assos used a clean, sleek silhouette and eco-friendly textiles to create a highly functional training jersey befitting of the tricolor that graces it.

Seeking to improve its environmental footprint, Assos sourced textiles made from 100% recycled P.E.T. bottles to construct the SS.neoPro. The finished product feels much like any synthetic material used to make jerseys, consistently wicking moisture away from your skin as you sweat to keep you dry whether you're mashing the pedals over cobblestones or just out for an easy spin on the roads.

The SS.neoPro is Assos' entry-level jersey, but it's important to note that Assos doesn't employ the same entry-level fit used by most manufacturers. While the jersey will feel more relaxed than an aerodynamic race jersey, Assos strives for a slim, streamlined silhouette throughout its line. In fact, the brand is notorious for creating clothing that feels unforgiving and tight when you're putting it on, as it's not designed to be comfortable in any position besides the ones you'll be in while you're riding. As you stretch into your drops or sit up onto your hoods, the jersey will move with your body, with a contoured fit designed to hold its shape without bunching or stretching for hours in the saddle.

Three traditional pockets line the lower back panel, and a new, tall collar and lengthened sleeve design provides added coverage while in the saddle. Other finishing touches include rear reflective visibility stripes, a covered, full-length zip, and an elastic/silicone hem at the rear. According to the Assos Layering System ClimaRange, this jersey falls into both the spring.1 summer.2 categories. In English, this means that Assos recommends wearing it from around 65 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit.

Nice Jersey

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Large

41" Chest.
I order a large and XL. The XL was way too big and would catch wind and I returned it. My take is that material used is not as stretchy as the Equipe where I am an XL.

I got this late in the year and I have only used as a base layer under heavier jerseys. The high collar was actually pretty nice in this context. The fabric, construction and overall fit were perfectly fine.
