Rs.sturmprinz Evo Prof Black Jacket
It takes a certain level of self-awareness to realize that not everyone in the cycling industry likes to be plastered with logos and brand names, which is why Assos took the time to look within and develop their ProfBlack line. Dedicating themselves to the cyclist truly means caring more about performance and development than branding, which shines through with the Assos Rs.sturmprinz Evo Prof Black Jacket. Resilience against weather, the Rs.sturmprinz can stand up to the harshest of storms, thanks to its ever adaptable Triton fabric, while maintaining a low key aesthetic so you'll never feel a need to remove logo patches and flashy brand names again.
Assos created the Rs.sturmprinz to tackle riding that sends you beyond the duty of a normal emergency shell, and the ProfBlack edition is no different. It is constructed to withstand wind and rain, while achieving lightweight packability, and unlike the standard Rs.sturmprinz is fully stashable within its own pocket. The jacket is designed to fit flawlessly, clicking into place as soon as its zipped up for a supportive barrier that doesn't whip in the wind. The Rs.sturmprinz is constructed from Assos' own Triton fabrics, using Triton V2 over the shoulder and back for heavier, more waterproof protection, and V2 along the chest and arms for lighter weight breathability that still keeps the water outside. The Swiss-made Triton fabric is a temperature-sensitive waterproof-breathable membrane. This means that when it's cold, the membrane is less breathable, working to trap your body heat within. And when the temperatures rise its pores expand to release heat and moisture for exceptional breathability.
The Rs.sturmprinz Evo Prof Black Jacket features the same airVent system used in the standard model, keeping ventilation to its max when you're warm, pulling heat away to keep your core at the ideal temperature for the ride. The inside is also seam-sealed, keeping water from sneaking in through the joints and seams. The back features another vent parallel with the shoulder blades that allows more heat to escape when you're working hard. The Rs.sturmprinz is designed for pairing with the Assos Layering Sytstem, so that you can continue to achieve the most effective wardrobe for the days temperatures, from the warm of spring to winter's harshest mercury drops.
The jacket features a zippered back pocket to stow away riding essentials on the go. The pocket is sealed with a reflective zipper that keeps moisture on the outside, and can reverse to stash the jacket inside for a quick and easy stow-away. The back also has two pocket-flaps that allow access to your inner layers, making it quick to get to your jersey pockets for a spare tube or some goodies when you start to bonk. The Rs.sturmprinz Evo Profblack continues the trend of its flashier cousin by illuminating the road with large reflective highlights, offering large strips along the back, and smaller reflective-zippers in the front.

Water beaded up on this jacket for no more than a year, then I could feel rain soak through onto my shoulders, and then everywhere else. Not in Seattle but in the mid-Atlantic.

Can you tell me how packable this jacket is? And will it work for an every day bike packing jacket if need be?

First - customer service from CC is second to none. The USPS lost my first jacket and CC sent the 2nd no questions asked. (the lost jacket showed and is on way back). I tested the jacket yesterday in steady rain, low 60 (f) temps. Excellent. No clammy arms, and I stayed dry. Fit is great - not extreme racer cut but slim. The tail also is excellent and stays put. For those of us with bubble butt this is welcome. At this price, buy it. PS - I am not racer slim these days but working on it. Not telling my weight - LOL

Just do it.

I've been endlessly impressed with my Strumprinz jacket. Full disclosure; I live in a relatively dry part of the world (Salt Lake City), but I've taken this out on a couple of winter road excursions with wet roads, and I was blown away. I can only imagine how well it would perform in a true downpour. You're not going to find another jacket that will truly keep you completely dry, and breathe this well. From the taped seems, to the fitted cuffs, to the perfect cut, I honestly can't formulate any criticism. Be sure to reach out to me directly at jdraper@backcountry.com if you have any questions!

I bit the bullet and ground my teeth when I paid the $476 for this jacket, but after wearing it a few times, it's by far the best fitting jacket of this nature for cycling that I've ever bought. The material is truly unique in repelling and breathing moisture. If you can afford it, its worth it.
