AssosrainGlove_evo7 - Men's
Item # AAS006L
rainGlove_evo7
We'll be the first to ask the question everyone's think: What could possibly set a rain glove apart as a luxury cycling item? Assos, as usual, is the first to answer: Fit. Of course, we didn’t really ask that and the Swiss brand didn't really answer in so many words; instead, the rainGlove_evo7 Gloves provide the answer just by existing.
The latest generation of Assos' rainGlove builds on the predecessors' reputation for fit and function by subtracting seams and adding yet more protection. They're still made of waterproof neoprene, but the reduced number of panel junctures means there's even less of a chance for pernicious water to infiltrate the gloves and send your ride spiraling into a cycling of getting wet, getting cold, and stopping to call for a ride home.
Despite the reduction in panels and seams, Assos still manages to strike those fit notes that keep us coming back to the brand time and again. The low-volume neoprene material is laid-out in a pattern articulated so well that doesn't quite equal the bar feel of classic knit gloves, but it comes damned close. It also does so while fending off chilling road spray and precipitation—something knit gloves are more apt to collect en route to becoming a sodden, frigid mess—and the palms are finished with a subtle grip texture to keep your hold on the hoods secure.
As with the previous iteration, the current rainGloves are well-suited to the mid-range temperatures of early fall and late spring by themselves. In temperatures below 50 degrees Fahrenheit, pair them with an inner layer like Assos' own tiburuGlove_evo7 or any other knit-type cycling gloves for increased insulation. The rainGlove also lets you wipe water away from your glasses, keeping the road in focus when precipitation exacerbates potential road hazards.
- A cycling glove for use in cool, rainy weather
- Neoprene body is waterproof to fend off road spray
- Assos inimitable glove fit helps preserve bar and lever feel
- Subtle grip texture on palms adds confidence on wet hoods
- Suited for spring and fall temperatures or layering in winter

(Yes - they limit the characters allowed) These are the best I've yet found but I would not recommend these for anything colder or longer than the ride I took without an outer layer. There has to be something better that won't need an extra layer or mittens over top.

Just completed my first ride using these gloves: a 40min excursion in rainy 41°F (5°C) with calm 7mph winds. I found my thumb needed to hide behind the bar top or drop to stay warm. There is a seem right at the tip of all fingers where water and wind will penetrate.

First off - I am a big Assos junkie. I love the fit and feel of these gloves. fwiw - They do not work on a smart screen but that's ok with me as I can rarely take a phone with me in the rain anyway. (Rain jerseys lack pockets.)

Neoprene.

All is in that one word - neoprene. Cons. Not breathable ergo sweaty palms. Smell like rubber. Thick. Runs a bit small but not enough to justify sizing up. pro none besides waterproof . If most of your rides are at 40-50F under heavy rain then it might be perfect glove for you otherwise don't bother.

Perfect, simple, warm, dry
- Fit:
- True to size
These are Assos as its best. Simple, seemingly durable, work great. If you want to keep anything dry, you need neoprene. Yes your hands will sweat, but you'll stay warm. No they are not breathable, but the gloves that are simply won't keep you dry. I think these will last me for many years.

Excellent Shoulder Season Glove
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
- Fit:
- True to size
- Size Bought
- Medium
- Height

- Weight

These are snug fitting without being restrictive, which I love for a foul weather glove. The 'stretch' in the material makes your hands fully functional when on so you can easily shift and grab your phone, etc. These are perfect for those shoulder season rides here in New England when the temps drop into the 40's & 50's. I've also worn them without any problem down into the high 30's. I run a bit hot but my hands were fine even in the high 30's. The grip and finger function with these gloves is outstanding. My only complaint, isn't a complaint..but because they're really form fitted, they do need a bit of work to get off. All in all a great purchase and I'd buy again without a second thought.

KILLER gloves, bullet proof
- Fit:
- True to size
The ONLY complaint I have is that they're kind of hard to get on and off but they make you feel like you're ready to go SCUBA diving. They're bullet proof, warm and comfortable. Went on a 3 hour rain ride on my MTB today and they were, as they always have been, absolutely up tot the test. Also love the goggle swiping pad.

Great rain gloves but...
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
- Fit:
- True to size
There is a lot to love about these gloves. - They keep hands dry and warm - Work great as a cold weather glove too when used with Tiburu gloves as liner. - Feel awesome on the handebars. Plenty of grip, cushion, and comfortable. The only complaint I have is that the black dye used by Assos comes off when wet and make a mess of your tape. One of my bikes has red Lizard skin tape that was ruined. I’ve left the tape that way and I am washing the glove after every use hoping that the excess dye will wash out and I’ll re-tape. If you have black handlebar tape then knock yourself out these gloves perform great.

I don't know about you but I dislike having my feet or my hands wet on a long rain ride. I could care less if my shorts are soaked through. That's just about being a hardcore Eurotrash rider. My legs are moving, so that part of my body stays warm enough. But the extremities tend to freeze up in the cold rain. These gloves keep every drop of water off your hands. I take them with me if the forecast says rain, just in case. And they're Assos, so they are the best quality cycling attire money can buy. Buy 'em. Use 'em. You won't regret it.

waterproof but not breathable at all
- Fit:
- Runs small
These gloves, which run a bit small, are incredibly waterproof and also somewhat windproof, which is great. The flaw is that because they are so non-breathable, a half hour of hard riding leaves the inside noticeably wet with your own sweat. Because they are not breathable, this sweat will not evaporate and they will be grossly moist on the inside the next time you go riding. You have to turn them at least partially inside out and rest them by a heating vent to get them to dry on the inside. I think they're best reserved for when it is definitely raining, rather than daily use.

Grip it and Rip it
These may be rain gloves, but here in SLC it hardly rains so I have turned them into my fall and spring glove. Great protection and they kept my hands warm to the lower 40's. Anything lower than that I'm on the trainer anyways;) They did keep my paws dry in a little shower and I was still able to grip the hoods with confidence. Remarkable ergonomics and minimal design. Put the big bulky mitts you have away and give these a try, you won't regret it. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions and/or concerns about fit. Size Purchased, Sm.
