Protect yo' neck
As we write this from 7000 feet above sea level, the memory of this morning's freezing air in our lungs creates a burning tingle that we'd rather forget. Not only that, but our cheeks and neck are still rosy from Jack Frost's incessant pinching. Had we been a touch smarter, we would have layered up with the Assos neckProtector_s7 Neck Warmer and experienced a ride free from woes.
Made from a blend of ultra-stretchy, warming materials, the neckProtector_s7 provides an uncompromising fit that assists in staving off the chills. Basically, like all Assos pieces, the warmer is engineered to fit like a second skin. This close contact with the skin, coupled with a low-volume construction, ensures the maximum in both breathability and thermo-regulation. Ideally, Assos recommends pairing this warmer with a jacket like the iJ.haBu.5 or the iJ.bonKa.6, however, it will provide protection whenever a collar won't suffice. Additionally, the design comfortably extends beyond the neck, to the face and nose. This feature limits your exposure while providing a more tolerable system of breathing at near-freezing temperatures.
Please note that the neckProtector_s7 falls into the Assos Layering System and ClimaRange -- in this case, ClimaRange 5, or in English, Early Winter. This means that the recommended temperature range falls roughly between 55 and 32 degrees Fahrenheit. However, it can be added accordingly within the system to boost the ClimaRange of your other Assos pieces. For more information on the Assos Layering System, please head over to the official Assos website.
The Assos neckProtector_s7 Neck Warmer is available in the color Black Volkanga and in the sizes 0, I, and II.

Nice addition to the winter arsenal
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
I got this for late fall or early winter rides when the temperature can be chilly at the start of a ride (especially since most of mine begin with a 0.75-mile descent down an 8% hill). I ordered a size II and it fits my 6'1" 200 lb big-headed frame fine. Small enough to fit in my back pocket but large enough to cover from my upper chest to over my nose if necessary. I use this in combination with the Assos caps when the temperature gets to the mid-30F's. Like all Assos winter gear it is thin but works.
