Description

MILLE GT Summer Long-Sleeve Jersey

A long-sleeve summer jersey might seem like an oxymoron, but that might depend on where you ride and what the conditions are like. If your local climate has ever-changing weather conditions and you're looking for a high performance, moisture-wicking, and breathable jersey with a little more coverage, the MILLE GT Summer LS Jersey certainly fits the bill. It offers additional protection (UPF35) against the sun's rays and can provide a little extra warmth on those cooler starts while using the same quick-drying and breathable Stripe fabric that's used on the short-sleeve version of this jersey.

We certainly see this as more of an early or late summer piece, and maybe even for spring or fall with a base layer, depending on where you live. It's remarkable just how well this jersey wicks, dries, and breathes when the pace picks up or the temps rise. The innovative Type.157 Stripe Tex fabric consisting of a circular knit is what's at work here and lets it get away with being a long-sleeve that we're tempted to wear when otherwise a short-sleeve would be a no-brainer. And at any point, if the buildup of heat is just too much, a slim-full-length zip lets you quickly dump heat and zip it back up, adjusting easily to the conditions. The jersey features the Mille Regular Fit cut with raglan sleeves making it more relaxed than its all-out Racing Fit jerseys so it's highly suited for training rides where comfort trumps aerodynamics.

We've really grown to love the Triple Ramp concept rear pockets, which positions them perfectly for ease of access and preventing the dreaded droopy rear jersey. This concept places the seams internally making the pockets barely noticeable and when you fill them with ride snacks and tubes, the top of the pocket forms a lip keeping items in over rough roads.

  • A long-sleeve jersey for cool summer days and extra UV protection
  • Mille cycling fit is ideal for training ride comfort
  • Type.157 Stripe Tex wicks sweat, dries quickly, and breathes
  • 3 roomy rear pockets fit ride fuel and spare tubes
  • Full zip front lets you dial in the incoming airflow
  • Assos once again redefines the landscape of cycling apparel

Great option for sunny climes.

I was looking for a summer-specific long sleeve jersey, to provide some added visibility and sun protection for my arms. I have "Lolly Red," which is really more of a florescent orange than a red. Definitely visible. Where I live, it rarely gets below 70 degrees, with highs usually in mid-high 80s. This Assos jersey is one of the only options I was able to find that fit the bill. Fit is pretty much the same as my other Assos gear, traditionally, with XL being just about perfect. Cut is comfortable on the bike, with sleeves the perfect length not to get in the way or ride up my arms. I like that there are no seams in the front body portion of the jersey, especially in the collar area which makes the fit very comfortable and sleek. Overall quality seems typical of Assos, which means very good, with no loose threads or bad stitching. Fabric is light enough, and keeps you relatively cool while riding. I had some concerns that the jersey would be too hot, but I've not found that to be the case. While I don't think I would wear it on rides of over 30 miles on 90 degree-plus days, for weekday rides of 20-30 miles in 70 to 85 degree weather--particularly where there is likely to be some added traffic and I don't want to take the extra time to slather sunscreen on my arms--this jersey has become my go-to. It dries quickly after laundering, too, so I've just worn it three days in a row. While it does not have a lot of features (I would have liked a zippered pocket, like Assos jerseys past), I will likely buy another when my size is available again.

Finally a summer weight jersey that works well. This jersey does run a bit small, but not enough to justify ordering a size bigger. I am used to the sizing mess that is Castelli (great garments, weird sizing), so I was pleased that an "L" in this Assos jersey fit both my torso (snugly) and arms (snug too, but the right length). I am 5'10", 165lbs. The fabric is a good weight for summer weather and the visibility green color is light enough to avoid heating from the sun and bright enough to be hi-viz. After a few dozen rides with this jersey, it seems to be well made, too. The built-in lids on the rear pockets seem like a good idea and so far have not been in the way of getting things in or out. Altogether, a great purchase - exactly what I was looking for.

Thought I would try a "summer" weight long sleeve jersey to see if it would allow me to skip putting sunblock on my arms. Mission accomplished! Just went out on a 50 mile ride on a 90 degree day with high humidity, and was perfectly comfortable with this jersey. I got the bright high-viz green color (to match my helmet) because I am hoping to be SEEN by all the drivers when they quickly glance at the road ahead in between their text messages. When I first tried it on, I was concerned it was too tight. (It is definitely a skin tight fit. I could easily see my nipples and even my chest hair. Even a tiny raised mole is visible under this paper thin yet very tough and stretchy material.) But once I got on the bike and into riding position, the design of the shirt really shines - it does not flap around in the wind at all, and it stays put. It is stretchy enough to conform perfectly to every movement. The material, the seams, and the zipper are all extremely high quality. (Pet peeve: I prefer the zipper pull to the on the right side. I thought only women's clothing had zipper pulls on the left side. Oh well, I'll have to adapt.) As I sometimes do when I'm all hot and sweaty, I jumped in the shower wearing my bike shorts and this jersey. Once it got wet, it really stuck to my skin and was hard to take off the normal way (grabbing it by the cuff at the wrist.). It became easy to get off once I grabbed it at the shoulder instead and allowed the sleeves to become turned inside out while taking it off. After showering, I promptly went back to the computer and ordered another one of the same jersey in the Lollyred color, which actually should more accurately be called Fluorescent Orange or Candy Orange. Another pretty high-viz color, but not really what I would call red. The advice to size UP was definitely accurate for me. I normally wear Medium in everything Pearl Izumi, but I most definitely needed a Large in this jersey. (Same for Castelli.) No possible way a Medium would have fit! I'm 5' 11.25" and 172 lbs, 32" waist, 39.5" chest. Glad I read the reviews and went with the Large.

Sleeves too short

Long sleeve summer jerseys are a rare beast, so I was excited to try this out. I'm 6ft, 150lbs, and got the medium based on the size chart. While the fit overall was great, the sleeves are an inch or two short, which would leave a gap between the arm and my gloves. For a jersey whose whole point is to keep the sun off my arms, that's not going to cut it. Seems like it would be a good jersey for people with shorter arms or who can fit a larger size, which presumably has longer sleeves.

Hah; because the others are not Assos ! Everything I have from Assos is fantastic and does just what it's supposed to, and to perfection.! I've been riding/training with Assos gear exclusively for years now; this piece is no exception. i have an older Mille LS jersey and it was a bit 'blousy' in my usual XL size (I'm 6'2" 168lbs) so I thought the L size would be better, but it's too small.. It is a different material and different cut as well, so I swapped it for the XL, which is perfect. - no bunching, no flapping, but also no binding and feels slippery through the air. It also wicks like a demon and is cool even in the warm Florida (humid) air. Base layers are essential (to the reviewer who had not use a base) and the right base layer to suit the conditions will make the whole system perfect - not to hot or cool and always draw moisture away.. I couldn't be happier!! Maybe better colors could be my only beef, but hey, who's looking.. The best thing is the sun protection for arms; no need for arm sleeves.

The size medium fits me perfectly even though I'm between a small and a medium on the size chart. Some have commented that Assos is tight in the chest. That is true when standing up. This Jersey is designed to fit when riding and the fit is perfect in that position.

The Perfect Long Sleeve Summer Jersey!

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

True to size

I am a fair skinned person and I always cover my arms while in the sun. I purchased this jersey for an alternative to summer arm skins. I like this jersey because the arms are trim, not tight against the skin, allowing for movement and air flow. Now, I prefer this jersey to arm skins and I plan on purchasing a second one. My original purchase was the blue one and I have had more compliments on this jersey than any one I have ever owned. The 3 pockets are large and the safety flap in each one can keep a cell phone inside in the event of a tumble, just not like a zipper pocket. I use this jersey for road and gravel. The color is fast and the material is high quality has not snagged. This is not a stretch to fit all jersey. Great for cool mornings here in Central Oregon when paired with a wind vest.

I agree with your assessment.

Very Good

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

My first Assos jersey and expensive enough to qualify as an "investment". Material is very thin but that's what i was hoping for - bought it to use on rides in the Florida summer. Have not used a base layer with it but will consider that to help with sweat wicking and maybe make the jersey last longer. Fit is definitely Euro as you expect w this brand. I'm 5'7" 162 lbs 40-in chest 34-in waist and the Large has not one millimeter to spare. Fits weird when you're walking around but fits great when you're leaned over the bars on the bike. Nice not to have to put sunscreen on my arms before riding. Looks pretty stylish too but my goodness it is pricey!

Great Jersey

Fit:
Runs small

Good quality you expect from Assos. As all Assos jerseys, it fits small and is most comfortable when in riding position. In terms of fabric weight, this is definitely a summer jersey.
