Description

Cap it.

The Assos S7 fuguCap is Assos' heavy-duty winter headgear. They rate it as part of climaRange Winter Plus, meaning Assos designers deem it appropriate for temperatures from -6 to 6 degrees Celsius (21 to 43 degrees Fahrenheit). Your experience may vary. It is similar to Assos' roboCap in how the skull casing is shaped with earflaps that drop down, rather than having your ears exposed like a standard beanie.

The fuguCap distinguishes itself due to all the fabrics that go into making it warm. The front of the cap has stratagonUltra wrapping around the forehead on the outside with RXQ fleece underneath. StratagonUltra is Assos' flexible membrane fabric. It is wind and water-proof at all times, but as it senses warmth from the inside, the pores in the membrane open up allowing sweat vapor to escape. This keeps your head nice and toasty on the coldest days without overheating easily.

The rest of the cap is made with the RXQ fleece that is warm, light, thin, stretchy, and wicks very well. The Assos fuguCap comes in White. There are three sizes 0, I, and II.

Great Hat

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

This is an excellent hat that covers your head and ears. I was looking for a hat that I could wear for temperatures in the 40's. It easily fits under the helmet. The hat keeps your head warm and the wind away from your ears. In my opinion a great product by Assos.

Best hat I've found

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I don't have a large head, but most under helmet hats are too small. The one fits me well and - finally - I found a hat that covers my ears. Big kudos for the breathability of this hat too. Most hats get me sweaty, this one doesn't and it also stops the ice cream headache from my helmet the funnels air in over my forehead (a very good thing when it's hot out, but sucks when it's cold).

Only 4 stars since, while it's still the best hat out there, it's too expensive and it still isn't perfect. Color choices in black might be a good step. And get rid of those goofy loops for glasses. It just makes it harder to get your glasses on when you have hat and helmet in place.

I have a 56cm head circumference and I had to use the large size ( II in Assos sizing).

The best there is.

While there certainly are other good Windstopper thermal caps out there (by Gore, Castelli, Craft, etc.), IMHO, this is the BEST deep Winter thermal cap made. Period.

Assos offers the best fit and by far the best quality sewing and materials. Assos caps also fully cover the ears; thus keeping cold air/wind out of your ears and off your ear lobes.

In addition, this Fugu Cap features one of the greatest textiles made in cycling today ("StrataGon") along the front, wind-facing zone. StrataGon (exclusive to Assos) is soft, insulating, windproof, and waterproof; yet breathes. Protective yet thin. Truly amazing material.

Expensive, but worth it for the best.

Sizing: I'm between a size M and L in Giro helmets (57 cm or 23 inch head). The size I here was too small. The size II fit perfect!

Great winter cap

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

Though thin, this cap is amazing at keeping your head warm and dry. The ear flaps are great but can (if it gets warm) be flipped up. I use this whenever the weather is below about 45F. When it gets particularly cold (25F and below) I use this cap and then a full Assos face mask. I am bald and this hat works. I have a large head and the XL size fits find. Some reviews mention the Assos logo on the front being a sore spot. They must have changed the design because you can not feel the logo at all.

Exactly as advertised

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

This cap is for cold weather riding. I've worn it several times in temperatures ranging from 25F to 38F and found it comfortable and warm. The windproof front panel extends around to cover your ears. It's thin enough to fit under a helmet and the loops for eyeglass arms are a great feature.

I've worn this about 10 more times since my first review. Still great and keeps wind off and out of ears. Washes nicely in cold water.

Beats other hats I've tried

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: II

I'm loving this hat so far. Definitely warmer than the robocap, especially around your ears. Very comfortable and tight without being annoyingly tight. Super soft on your ears. I am right on the borderline between size I & II with a 58cm head, but size I was way too small.
