When Assos released the Laalalai bib shorts with a redesigned, center-buckle bib strap construction, it received mixed reactions. Some riders lauded the pressure reduction on the chest and while others felt more pull across the clavicles. In the new Dyora line, a women-specific racing line, Assos introduces the Dyora RS S9 Summer Bib Short with a fresh bib strap design that returns the front straps to fit more laterally on the chest. And while the repositioned front straps may be enough to win over the majority of racers, Assos reaches further with an ambitious rear strap construction.
Assos focuses firmly on rider comfort and race performance. The rear straps descend beyond the hem of a jersey or jacket top and are clearly visible while riding. A single strip of semi-stiff elastic material is folded over itself to make an A-frame, which attaches closer to the chamois than do traditional straps which attach at the waist — or are integrated into a one-piece mesh design. It provides a consistent pull for ideal chamois positioning while riding and aggressive cornering. A more compliant elastic material connects at the top of the A-frame to ensure freedom of movement over the shoulders and chest to accommodate racing positions and aero-tucks.
Assos calls on Type.441 fabric to make up the main body of the Dyora RS S9, which compresses muscles for increased fatigue-resistance as you push down hours of racing wattages. Silky-smooth and breathable, the warp knit fabric has significantly fewer seams across the main body and the leg grippers, resulting in a lower overall weight for the Dyora RS S9 of 165 grams.
An antibacterial top cover sits atop the shock-absorbing and lightweight Dyora RS chamois insert with foam that compresses and rebounds during every pedal stroke for superior comfort and predictable saddle engagement. Add in the creature comforts of a UPF 50+ rating and odor control, and the Dyora RS S9 is well-positioned to establish a new standard for racing-specific bib shorts.

Very tight straps, but nailed the material, but easy to get off, with a nice feel. Love handle area was all messed up. Hits at the wrong spot, like it wasn't originally designed for women's hips, but no underwear line. Legs had a great material, but not supper grippy. Chaomis: 7/10. Average width in the butt area, and on the more padded side. I returned it because of my longer torso, and the weird midsection.

So expensive bibs are worth it, who would have thought! I should have gotten a pair of nice bibs a long time ago. What a difference! I'd anything changes I'll post an update. They do run small though, when I opened them up and looked at them I wasn't sure they were going to fit but they fit great!

Perfect for long rides

These run small. I'm built like Chris Froome but with implants at 5'10" and 135 lbs. I have a short torso and long legs. The small is compressive on me, but I like that, especially for long rides. If they made a "small tall" it would be perfect. I need a few more inches of thigh material, but my pant inseam is 34". The chamois took a long time to break in. It takes longer to dry, as it is dense. The dense chamois feels amazing on long rides, but only after I broke it in over the course of 10+ rides. These bibs feel like they'll be around my kit closet in 10 years, even with regular use. (Like the old Assos products. Newer tends to fit better, but last less time.) If you have larger breasts (c/d cup), these straps are AMAZING because they don't cross over the nipple area, compressing the chest. They stay to the side and in place during the ride. The bibs front panel is shorter, which takes some getting used to. This does make them more ideal on hotter rides, as there is less material covering the body under the jersey. Perfect for: hot temps (80+ degrees), 50-100 mile rides, 5'6" riders

Uncomfortable spine pressure weird strap

I love the Assos T'Laalalai women's bib shorts and have 2 pair. I thought I would try these Dyora summer bibs as they are the latest design and I live in a hot, humid climate. I thought they might be even better than the T'Laalalai. My DH likes the men's and I researched and was aware the women's have a different strap style with the rear straps being looped and sewn in farther down the short, nearer the pad. I was worried they would show under the jersey and look weird. Turn out that doesn't happen or bother me but I hate the feel of the straps pulling down on my shoulders and compressing my spine. I have worn them indoor, outdoors, short and long rides and I still do not like how they feel. I don't have a great lumbar spine and they just feel like they compress my L-3-4-5 vertebrae at all times. I am 5'2" & 110 lbs and got the small which is what I usually wear and they seem true to Assos size chart. My torso is short as I take a less than 16" backpack size so it's not a long torso creating the feel but could be due to my spine not enjoying downward force on my vertebral discs even when I'm aero, horizontal on the bike. I do not like the front styling, front panel looks weird is a bit short. I also worry the straps creating these stretchy loops over your back and rear could get me pulled off the bike in a tight or tangled situation with another rider's handlebars, although it is unlikely, it worries me. Why this weird butt loops, Assos's, for women but not men? The actual chamois and rear padding are fine. The bibs are nicely compressive similar to T'Laalalai and the grey pad is nice. I should have returned them but I tried so hard to like them and get used to them. If you like the T'Laalalai, don't bother to get these, they are not an upgrade, at least not for my body.

These are my second pair of Assos bibs. I bought the T.LaalaLaiShorts_S7 Lady Bib Shorts - Women's a few months ago and they are incredibly comfortable but the over-the-head straps are a little odd so I thought I would try these. These bibs seem to run a little smaller and the chamois feels thicker. It's also been slower to break in (felt a bit like wet cardboard the other day). Not sure what the difference in chamois is and these will likely be comfortable in time but I didn't have the same a-ha moment.
