Cento EVO Bib Short

The Cento EVO Bib Short from Assos is the evolution of its iconic Cento, updated with new features and details that further its long-distance-comfort credentials. It's refined fit, materials, and updated insert solidifies this short as a staple from the stalwart short brand.

Type.439 textile returns for the main panels and is a favorite thanks to its incredible skin comfort. This durable material possesses two different rates of four-way stretch for maximum elasticity and a nice compressive hold and supportive wrap for hard-working muscles. It's also proven to have exceptional breathability, and it rapidly transfers moisture to its quick-drying outer surface. As with the original Cento, the fit is a touch more generous around the lower abdominals than the racingFit options, and Assos adds its new raw-cut, tape reinforced zeroWaist ensuring a smooth transition between body and fabric for less pressure and a comfortable hold.

Leg openings receive Assos' Ultralight Leg Grippers featuring light silicon treatment woven into the leg bands, helping reduce bulk and secures the hem in place without any excessive pressure. The bib back panel is constructed using the comfortable Y7 Frame Carrier design for a wide, flat, flexible, and stable structure that simply disappears between the shoulder blades for a smooth, supportive hold. Furthermore, a dorsal stabilizer in its Stabilizator mesh provides limited vertical stretch that increases support during those long hours in the saddle reaching for the hoods and drops.

The new black colorway Cento EVO elastic insert uses 10mm of plush memory foam and the kukuPenthouse for comfort and support on every ride. kukuPenthouse is a soft, brushed microfiber layer at the front part of the insert that supports the male anatomy and eliminates pressure while improving ventilation. Its patented 3D waffle design uses three-layer perforated foam that increases breathability while dropping excessive grams. Finally, the returning goldenGate technology is always welcome to see and features interrupted stitching along the insert’s side panels, allowing for three-dimensional freedom of movement in a sensitive, high rotational area.

  • Updated Cento long-distance/endurance bibs from Assos
  • regularFit offers a more accommodating fit than its raceFit offerings
  • Gently compressive Type.439 material breathes, wicks, and supports
  • goldenGate chamois technology moves with you rather than against you
  • kuKuPenthouse front layer adds male-specific chamois comfort
  • Y7 Frame Carrier Bib Tech supports yet is unobtrusive
  • Ultralight Leg Grippers comfortably hold the hem in place
  • Since the brand was launched, Assos has enjoyed clandestine popularity throughout the peloton

For best results, take measurements over your underwear.
Measure around the widest part of your chest.
Bend to the side and measure around the place where your waist bends, keeping the tape a bit loose.

    Wasn’t blown away

I have been wearing the giordana FRC pro bibs for years. Thought I would give these a try to see if grass is greener on the other side. In short, it’s not. Here’s the breakdown: Straps- awesome, couldn’t be better Length- too short. But I am tall, so it is what it is. Short fabric- great material. Compression- needs more in the mid leg, there isn’t enough compression on the last third of the short, so they have a tendency to ride up during explosive efforts. Shammy- I get more hot spots with this model compared to the frc’s, but didn’t feel as special as I expected for the price. All that said, Giordana FRC pro shorts still are my number 1 choice for all conditions.

    Good But Different

    I've used it several times
    Runs large

So I typically buy XL bibs, but decided to buy these in a large after looking at some reviews and hoping to drop a few more lbs. Quad fit is good albeit shorter than most other bibs I have tried. Chamois feels like it is going to be decent. The weird thing for me is the fit around the waist. While standing up the waist is extremely loose, like I could look down and see inside to the crotch area if I wanted to. While on the bike they aren't as bad and maybe even provide a bit of extra room for some good belly breathing, but still doesn't compress against my waist very well. I don't think it is weird enough to return, but thought it would be worth mentioning.

I have also found these bibs to be very loose around the waist.

    I'm particular about bibs

    I've used it several times

The Mille bibs were great, the cento s7 markedly better, but the cento EVO far and away the best. No more need for Chamois butter. Everything seats perfectly in these bibs.

    best investment

    True to size

I just completed an 8 day 800 mile ride from Innsbruck in Austria through the Dolomites and Alps to Cannes in the South of France. Out of all the kit I bought for the trip the standout purchase was these bib shorts . I know they are expensive but they are worth it and I will never wear anything else from now on.

    Comfort for the long haul

    I've used it several times
    True to size

I bought these for my century plus endurance rides, looking for something to replace my older, workhouse shorts also from Assos. Put them to test right away on a double metric, and as usual, Assos did not disappoint. Glad I bought two pairs!

    Best fitting bib ever

I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

These arrived yesterday, and I wore them on today’s ride. While these are spendy, they are worth every cent. I was replacing an older pair of Assos bibs, and have tried other brands, because I wanted to see if there was any other company that provides the same fit, compression, comfort that Assos provides. I haven’t found a good alternative yet. They run true to size. This series is a huge leap forward in comparison to the S.7 I had previously. Both fit great, but the compression of this is way better. Are they worth the hype - yes. Just wish I didn’t waste the money on the others before coming back to these.

    Great bibs

My T.equipe s_7 were destroyed. So, I tried the new RSR and did not like. The chamois is basically not there. Todd put me in these Centos and they are great. Much better compression than RSR, more cushion in chamois which I like and they are just great.

Personally, I love RSR , they are the best I ever had yet. Light af , comfy , race cut fit.

Best shorts I have ever had.

    I've used it several times
    True to size

I have last year's versions of the Cento, T.Equipe and Camponissimo shorts. These new evo shorts make me want to toss the lot of them. The shorts are that much more comfortable in every way. The KuKu penthouse on the older Cento shorts was fine but it was a kind of perforated fabric that tended to rub a little. The evo version uses the same type of material as the rest of the shorts (or looks like it) and is more comfortable. Seriously trying to convince myself to get another pair.

Hi Martin, my name is Peter, I ride about 40 miles/ week. Need your help and wisdom with my Assos Camponissimo bib shorts. I HATE them. bought them about 6 months ago - $400 bucks! Do not race, just long gran fondos or endurance riding. They look, feel & fit great when I am off the bike standing, on the saddle constant pain. I did a comparison with some of my old bib shorts that had a thicker chamois - bingo! no pain. This leads me to my question and point - how would you compare the thickness/ comfort level & fit of our campionissimo bib shorts / chamois to your latest cento evo bib shorts chamois. Also, any advice on how to convince Assos to give me an online credit $$ towards the purchase of a new bib short for returning our campionissimo bib short. They have a comfort guarantee and it failed. I have owned these bib shorts for around 6 months, but have only worn them on my bike for about 8 hours. They look and feel brand new. Do you know if Assos takes care of their customers when the circumstances are what I have described ? Many thanks in advance for all your wondeful help. Sorry about the long email - I look forward to hearing from you. All my best Peter
