Mille GT Wind Vest

If you watch pro cycling, you'll notice riders grabbing vests from their soigneurs at the top of mountain climbs before the plunge back down to the valley floor. Those in the autobus who summit much later and don't have team staff to dole out extra attire often seek out fans handing out a newspaper for some form of insulation on the descents. Even though the grand tours are held during the warmer months, descents down Alpine and Pyrenean roads can be downright chilly and a team can't afford to lose any riders to sickness. It becomes essential to keep the core warm and that's exactly what a vest does. So if you're in the market for a water-repellent vest to keep you warm during chilly starts and blustery descents, we recommend the Men's BlitzVestMilleGT from Assos to keep you comfortable while coming in at a price that is on point.

Assos use of advanced materials always puts the brand at a premium level versus its competitors. On this vest, fabrics are carefully chosen to provide a high level of protection while still allowing excellent packability. On the front panel, it uses Foil Ultra textile, also found throughout its year-round climaX range, as a windproof, water-repellent barrier against the wet and chill. The side panels get the windproof Glossy material for more stretch and breathability. A full-length zip lets you get in and out of the vest on the fly with ease and adjusts the amount of air coming in for maximum comfort. Around the neck, an all-new dual layer construction improves elasticity, preventing drafts, without causing any excessive constriction while you're riding à bloc. It's stripped-back engineering and construction allows for its low volume and lightweight packability, so you won't regret starting off a ride with it on or stowing it in a pocket when heading out in variable conditions.

Even as this vest hits an impressive price point, Assos didn’t skip any details. The material and design were specifically engineered to be as quiet as possible with a rustle-free fabric. If the clouds decide to empty their droplets, the DWR treatment will prevent your spirit from getting dampened. The vest is cut in its revised regularFit, putting it as slightly less compressive than the racingFit yet more fitted than the comfortFit. It's perfect for layering over a jersey and baselayer during long training rides providing protection while letting you ride in total comfort. It comes in the colors classic blackSeries or a more noticeable visibilityGreen.

Way too small

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it
Size Bought:
L
Height:
5' 8"
Weight:
155

I usually anticipate clothing items from certain brands will be on the small side, but this vest was REALLY tight. I had a hard time even zipping it up when trying it on, and the arm holes felt really constricting. I'm 5'8" and 155lbs, and ordered a L, which by the sizing guidelines should have given me some margin. Looks nice and really lightweight, but I'm going to try something different.
