Description

Rubber Gecko Black

The tape on your bars is peeling, and it's no longer quite the same color as what you originally bought. Clean up the look of your frame with Arundel's Rubber Gecko Black bar tape. Like the lizard it's named for, this tape is grippy. Unlike its namesake, the tape is made with EVA foam and ventilated polyurethane, so it's actually pleasant to grab. It also lies flat and doesn't absorb water easily, making it much quicker to wipe down after a particularly sweaty ride than cork tape.

No complaints

I was nervous to get a tape billed as sticky, but no regrets. Very comfortable on bare hands and haven't come close to feeling like I'm slipping. Used to wear gloves but enjoying riding without even while riding in the summer with a good sweat. Easy install. Would buy it again for sure.

Nice comfortable, grippy, thick tape. It's a little heavier than my other stuff, but the comfort makes up for it. Because it's thick, you aero crazy people might not want to wrap the tops of your bars with it haha. I like the tape a lot, definitely recommend.

How thick is it? I enjoy the Lizard Skins DSP 3.2 but it's not very durable, and pricey.

Hi Kevin. It is 3mm thick.

Holds up great!! No more slippery hands when I'm sweaty.

perfect amount of grip

Grip to padding ratio on point, best bang for your buck. This bar tape feels great on bare hands and works well with winter gloves. The only negative is that it could be a bit longer in case you run a wide bar.

Perfect.

I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Great grip and just the right amount of padding. Some tape has gotten super expensive but it is great that this tape is affordable and wraps well. Perfect for any drop bar bike.

Grippy, Never Gummy

Familiarity:

My ideal bar tape feels good with or without loves, and stays clean without developing any sticky residue. The Arundel Rubber Gecko tape fits the bill, and looks goood on the bars to boot. Some people have expressed concern that the diamond pattern on the tape could be to rough against the skin, but I have not found that to be the case. This tape is great for pulling on the bars, or riding rough dirt roads. Highly recommended.

Great feel, but roll should be longer

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I have ape shoulders and arms and use size 46 bars, so length of the roll is an issue for me. But honestly this roll is probably right at the limit for those of you with more standard bars like 40's. I managed to wrap up far enough that the only time I'm not on the tape is when my hands are dead center next to the stem like Froome-dog, but I have a flat portion of my bars there that makes for a comfortable hold nonetheless. As to feel of the product and durability, I've no issues. Feels soft underhand without being too mushy. I like to use gloves with minimal padding in them and I've done all day rides with no discomfort in my hands. They clean right off with a hose and look good still after some time in use. I'd have given 5 stars if the roll was simply a bit longer. The mechanic at my local bike shop who has wrapped more bars than I ever could in a lifetime told me that he knows Arundel rolls are on the short side, so it isn't just my imagination.
