Description

Find your path.

Built for versatility and all-day riding, Alpinestars' Pathfinder Shorts w/ Inner Shorts keep your lower half comfortable and supported for hours on end.

The shorts were constructed with a technical ripstop material, which provides the durability and comfort trail riding demands. And elastic panel was added at the rear yoke for maneuverability in the riding position, and a seamless seat area creates a smooth, friction-free zone for added comfort. Speaking of comfort, Alpinestars added a soft mesh inner waist belt to ensure that your skin remains free of irritation while in the saddle.

Alpinestars paired the Pathfinder with its removable liner, which is a lightweight mesh pair of shorts with a built-in chamois. This EVO insert features multi-density padding for sit bones and soft-tissue support. The shorts were finished off with adjustable waist tabs, two hand pockets, a single zippered thigh pocket, as well as stretch mesh ventilation inserts.

The Alpinestars Pathfinder Shorts w/ Inner Shorts - Men's are available in even sizes 28 to 40 and in the colors Black/cool grey, Cool Grey/black, and Sand/black.

Shorts

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The shorts aren't bad, and seem to be pretty durable. The fabric can be a little noisy at times, but still a pretty solid pair of shorts. Liner was very uncomfortable, and really seemed to have too much padding.

Great all mountain shorts

High quality, well-made, strong fabrics, well ventilated.

I have been really impressed by the quality and QC of Alpinestars MTB gear. This stuff is up there with the best quality MTB kit made (Troy Lee Design, Pearl Izumi). Alpinestars is an Italian brand with history in moto. Designed in Italy. Cool.

Matches great with the excellent Alpinestars Drop 2 short-sleeve jersey (or long-sleeve).

The only con: The chamois with the supplied liner shorts are just ok. Wear with quality technical (non-cotton) boxer briefs or for long days in the saddle: a good pair of liner-shorts from Fox or Pear Izumi.

    Great for even XC rides

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

They are a great durable short but have a great lightweight feel that I find myself using them all the time on my XC rides.

    Solid shorts

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 32

Love the shorts, they fit well aren't too baggy and annoyingly long the only issue I have with them is the chamois. Pretty crappy chamois liner and it doesn't have the silicone lining that keeps them from riding up. Fox chamois liners are the best but the actual A-star Pathfinder shorts are probably my fav. Get the shorts, find another chamois to sub in.

    Alpinestars Pathfinder Shorts

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I really like the fit and material feel to these shorts. They have just the right amount of stretch to them, are lightweight, and the waist cinches work well. All 3 pockets are quite deep and large. You can fit quite a bit of gear inside each. I was kind of hoping for a smaller stash pocket for a car key, but that is just being picky. The shorts sit right at your knee, and a bit more baggy than tight, which I would say would pay well between either an all mountain or XC type short. The size seemed true, which I sized up a bit on and utilized the waist cinchs.

While the exterior of the short was great, I found the liner/chamois really uncomfortable anytime I wasn't on the saddle. It seems Alpinestars may have gone on the other side of the spectrum when it comes to liner sizing as the previous pairs of Manual shorts were much smaller.

Either way, the shorts were comfortable while in the saddle and seem quite durable.

Great shorts! I will buy the again!

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

i have been riding mtn and road bikes for over 25yrs. I have worn all kinds of cycling shorts/bibs over the years. These are some great shorts!!

I ordered them on Monday and received them the next day. I wore them that very day and headed up to a local mtn bike trail. From the moment I put them on I liked the chamois. The fit rivals high dollar road bibs.

I started up the trail and I had to think about my shorts. No pressure points, no hotspots they just fit. I headed up the trail and enjoyed my ride. I noticed after about 1500' of climbing (on a ridged carbon hard tail) that I was so comfortable that I didn't notice my shorts....

I plan on buying a second pair today and letting my other biking buddies know abut them. I love these shorts and can't beehive the fit. Worth every penny.
