Description

Save your skin.

Sometimes hard pads are overkill, but you still want something between your skin and the ground. Enter the Alpinestars Paragon Knee Guards, a pair of lightweight, breathable, and flexible sleeves that will save your skin without interfering with your pedaling. Made of pre-shaped stretch mesh, the Paragons move as you do without causing sweat to build up, while soft CE-certified pads add a lightweight layer of impact protection. Flat seams prevent irritation, and the elastic cuffs and internal silicone print keep the Paragon from sliding around while you climb, descend, and get generally radical.

  • Lightweight, breathable, pedal-friendly knee guards for trail riding
  • Stretchy mesh material breathes well even when temps rise
  • Pre-contoured shape is comfortable as you move around on the bike
  • Silicone leg grippers keep the pads in place across rough terrain
  • Flat inward seams prevent chafing on big days with plenty of vert
  • Reinforced fabric resists abrasion if you take a dirt sample

last seasons was better

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

it feels like this seasons pad are a little more loose fitting up on the thigh, i ordered another set of mediums and the material as well as fit changed to just a smidge larger, enough at least with my legs that i can feel a little bit more movement.

Alpinestars Paragon Knee Guards

Bought these for my GF. She likes that there is no hard plate on the inside. The whole pad is soft and moves with your leg.

    not amazing, but great price!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The fit isn't perfect for me because the top of the sleeve falls between the knee cap and quad, it could have been made a tad taller or made with a strap. This is likely a personal fit problem, otherwise the pad only rotates slightly when pedaling and there is no sliding downward. I typically pack them for the climb because they are super light and don't take up much volume. Good coverage for moderately rated trails.

    Ride with Confidence

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This is a great product. I purchased these for that added level of protection so i can focus on my riding and not my knees. The fit was great for a hard shell pad. They do bunch up a little but over time but they are easy to adjust the elastic stretches out and conforms to your natural shape. The color is spot on compared to the picture, i got the yellow colorway and i really like it.

    Nice lightweight protection

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I use these for more agressive trail riding. They're comfortable and regulate temps pretty well. I was between sizes and went with the L. Seems to be the correct choice.

Watch out for the loud EDM background music in the video, you may want to turn your speakers down a little, or CRANK EM UP!

      Comfort

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Medium

The Alpinestars Paragon knee pads are extremely comfortable and functional. They offer decent knee and chin protection. Also do not slip down during long rides.

      Unanswered Question

I only see sizing information down to the size S. What is the sizing for XS? Looking for my son with a knee measurement of 10in

      Good, durable, confortable pads

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Large

I bought a pair of these last year. They're comfortable and durable. I've had quite a few crashes while wearing them and I was glad I had them on. Late this year I noticed the pads were getting pretty worn and torn. One reason for this was crashing, but the bigger reason was that I had mediums and needed large (the mesh was tearing because they were too tight). I recently ordered a new, large pair and I'm very happy with them. I wear them every time I think I might need them. Better safe than sorry.

      My go-to knee pads

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Comfortable knee and elbow protection that’s great for trail riding. I don’t need to stuff these in a pack for the climb and only put them on for the descent, I’m happy to put them on for the whole trail ride as they feel fine when climbing. Plenty of silicone grip strips keep these in place. No need for buckles or straps, just slide them on and hit the trail.

      My go-to knee pads

      Great for peddaling

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These knee pads are best for trail riding, not heavy downhill use. Great choice to wear while pedaling!

      Comfortable, cool and cost effective

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I picked these up after a gnarly wreck that knocked me out for a few weeks. For the money, these have done wonders. They're really comfortable, were cool through the middle of summer and helped my confidence a ton. Then when I had a similar wreck a few weeks later, I bounced a bit, climbed back on and finished my ride without issue. Definitely recommend

      Comfortable, cool and cost effective

What size knee pads are you wearing in your photo?

      Sizing is a little off

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I like these pads, they're lightweight but have a substantial pad on the knee cap. Like most people who have reviewed this knee pad, I had to try a few before figuring out the correct size, it is smaller than I'd wear in other brands. Once you get the right size, these are great!

According to the guidelines, I'm right at the edge between medium and large. Any thoughts on which direction to go??

      Hey Ryan,

Personally I would go with the medium if I was right in between. Tighter will stay in place better. If you get both to compare reach out to me directly and I will pay for your return shipping cost.

      work well

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Light, comfortable. Sizing is perhaps a bit big. Crashed wearing them a couple of weeks ago and they did a nice job protecting. I will climb with them on, which I never would do in my heavier-duty pads.

Great knee pads - check size

I checked the size chart of the alpine stars website: http://www.alpinestars.com/paragon-knee-guard-15 and was really glad I did. As someone who often orders XL in everything I ordered medium in these based on measurement. Glad I did. The protection matrix allows a lot of air flow keeping your knees cool. It been hot lately here in Durango and the paragon have been quite comfortable. Good value at this price. I got the yellow sticking option, and even though I am loath to use the term, they look dope.

        Good medium duty protection

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
        • Fit: True to size

I ride year round and wanted a pad that was not to hot in the summer, but offered good protection for trail riding. My previous pads were the gel style that were suppose to harden on impact. Unfortunately, they slid down during a crash and took some skin off my knee. I have yet to have a problem with heat or crash protection with these. I like the fact that they are actually built to a CE-certified standard. Size wise, the size chart was spot on for me. My only real gripe is that they cannot be washed in a wash machine. I have found the best way to clean them is to wash them under a warm shower head using a liquid body wash, or shampoo. While these won't be a good choice for down hill, they work well for trail, or hard XC.

Does this product only come with one knee pad or is it a set?

        Hi Andrew,

        These come as a set.

If you need anything else, let me know.

        Thanks,

        Trail Rider's Protectors

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I'm a long-time XC style rider, and have been reluctant in the past to wear baggy shorts, let alone body armor. But after a few crashes early this season, I decided I was tired of losing skin to the trail, and riding days to recovery from minor injuries. I wanted pads that were light, cool, and not too spendy. The Alpinestars Paragon Knee Guards fir the bill nicely. I ordered the large based on the size chart, and the fit is spot on. they stay in place for the entire ride, ventilate pretty well on the climb and much better on the descent, and generally stay unobtrusive. Of course now that I'm wearing knee guards I haven't had any serious crashes, but I'm able to get a little more aggressive in the turns without worrying so much about sliding out. These would not be right for heavy duty use, but for my purposes they are just right.
