There's no denying that spring conditions can get a little hairy on the trail, which means you've got to take an extra step in planning, should you be caught in a sudden spring shower, or sideways hail storm mid climb that leaves you soaked and nearly hypotermic on your descent. One solution is to stay inside where it's toasty, warm, and predictable, but we prefer a different solution — tossing on the Alpinestars Descender 2 Jacket for some elemental protection, and shredding that early-season dirt.

The Descender 2 Jacket is lightweight enough to feel comfortable on the climbs, but is crafted with burly rip-stop fabric that's both water-and-wind resistant. It features a full-length YKK zipper in front to let you drop heat in a pinch, and seals up tight for a water-proof closure. At the collar you'll find microfleece to keep your money-maker comfortable, while the wrists and waist feature elastic to keep your fit locked in place. In back you'll find that the hem is extended to keep you covered when you're in your riding stance, avoiding the dreaded lower-back gap. And because there will no doubt be times when the sun comes out and things get toasty, the Descender 2 Jacket features a storage bag with strategically placed hook-and-loop straps that snugly secure to your saddle rails, keeping the jacket out of sight and out of mind until you need it again.
