Works Like a Champ

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I moved from a Kryptonite lock b/c it kept jamming up while locked. The locking mechanism in this Abus is (so far) much easier to both lock/unlock. This Abus is slightly wider than my former Kryptonite, and that is more useful than I thought it would be for locking my gravel bike during commutes around town -- the wider lock gives you a few more options when locking your bike to a fixed rack. The downside is the cylinder bulk -- it's much thicker than the Kryptonite. So, you have to choose your compromise. The alarm is a bonus, and I like the fact you can choose to use the alarm or not on every lock occasion -- well thought out. I also appreciate the lock cylinder has the rubber coating to save your bike frame. Security wise (I am in DC), I think both Abus and Kryptonite are similar. No long term feedback yet re: rain/rust, etc.
