Ride the oval.

Absolute Black claims that the Oval Traction Chainring improves rear wheel traction as a result of more consistency throughout the pedal stroke. Each chainring size features its own unique oval profile, which Absolute Black claims maximizes power transfer and smooths the rotation by reducing dead spots and capitalizing on the sweet spots.

Don't forget to buy bolts

Check this out before you buy:
Impotant info on the AB website:

Competitive Cylist doesn't offer a complete solution for actually mounting this.

    Worth it

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This chainring feels great. I cant feel the oval shape at all. It is just smooth pedaling. I recommend it to anyone.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I added this Oval Chainring to my Niner Jet 9 Carbon to upgrade it. I could feel the difference immediately! The way the ring is mounted sets it up to apply and direct the maximum amount of force available. The pedal stroke starts with the crank at the top of the oval and quickly transitions into what feels like a gentle downward slope which allows you to exert more force with less energy expended! I added it to an Eagle XX1 setup and at 53 years old I can tell I no longer fear the uphill! I would recommend this product to anyone who is looking to improve their ride and I will be adding one to my Cross bike soon. CHEERS!

What crankset and derailer do you use...? thanks...

What is the smallest tooth count chainring can you use on your Eagle xx1 ?

I was worried based on reviews of similar oval rings from other manufacturers that I would feel the oval shape in my pedal stroke. Not the case at all. AB's version of Narrow Wide works awesome. I use a 32 tooth on my Remedy 29er with a 46t XT and I feel like I can go all day.
