Whip-it Chain Whip

The Abbey Bike Works Chain Whip is the perfect complement to the Dual Sided Crombie tool -- in fact, the Crombie stores neatly inside the Chain Whip's handle. It uses a single length of chain to simplify the design and eliminate a weak spot of traditional whips. Also differentiating the Abbey Bike Works Chain Whip is the 12in stainless steel handle that offers plenty of leverage, and a comfortable grip.

Always with me

I've put it through the wringer

This paired with the crombie tool is probably my favorite never leave home without tools. They fit inside each other and fit perfectly inside my soft travel tool roll. They are lightweight yet strong. The only issue I have is the plastic at the bottom pops out all the time. I have somehow managed not to lose it but feel it is only a matter of time. But that is pretty minimal and still puts this at the top of my list regardless

Best chain whip

I've put it through the wringer

Abbey bike tools. What else can be said? For someone who wrenches fairly often (on my own bikes and buddies bikes as well) I really notice the difference between quality tools and junk. This is the best chain whip I have ever used, and the fact that it is lightweight and the crombie fits in the handle is an added bonus. Have yet to meet a lockring that this guy couldn't loosen.

Function and Form

I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I'm a tool geek. I'll buy tools that I may only use once per season, just because I think they look cool ... but the fact that they are beautiful does not diminish that I need my tools to work the way that I want them to, even if I'm not using them every day like shop mechanics. This means that I'd rather have an ugly tool that does its job over a pretty tool that doesn't. Abbey's dual Crombie and Chain Whip are top-notch in both function and form ... which is a rare, and welcome combination.

Does this whip have the 1/2" plug for dual sided Crombie Tools or the 3/8" plug for single sided?

The description says that it's the "perfect complement to the dual sided Crombie tool" so I'm assuming that means it's 1/2" At least that's what I'm going on as I order it...

Does the Abbey Chain whip work on 11 spd cassetes? (Campy SR for example)?

An excellent chain whip

I've put it through the wringer

This tool goes perfectly in conjunction with the Abbey Crombie tool. The Crombie slides into the chain whip for compact storage or travel. The chain whip itself is very well built and does a good job of holding onto the cassette. As with other Abbey tools, contstruction quality is top notch.
