7 ProtectionTransition Knee Guards
Item # SPU0003
The Transition Knee Guards are the lightest, most flexible knee pads that 7 Protection makes, so they're perfect for riders who are looking for pedaling comfort with moderate downhill protection. They forgo straps and cinches in favor of a simple, stretchy pull-on sleeve, which incorporates mesh panels for ventilation and plenty of spandex for a secure fit. A soft 1mm pad covers the kneecap for impact protection, while foam around the edges provides abrasion protection while allowing plenty of airflow.
Maybe the best feature of the Transition, though, is its packability. Since it's made with soft foams and padding, it easily rolls up and stashes into a backpack or even a jersey pocket. You can go pad-free on the climb but pull the Transition on for some peace of mind on rocky, technical descents.
- Lightweight trail pads are perfect for riders seeking minimal protection
- Mesh back supplies exceptional airflow while pedaling up
- Pre-curved fit conforms to your leg’s shape for comfort
- Silicone cuff grippers fit securely while bombing rock-gardens
- Highly packable design lets you stash the pads in your pack

The middle ground

Spent a day on the lifts with these, and had no complaints. They're sturdier than a Fox Enduro of a Troy Lee Speed, but less than a hard shell pad, or even some of the beefier gel/dough pads like the VPDs or Troy Lee 5450s. I was right between small and medium, and gave the smalls a whirl. They were snug at first, but never uncomfortably tight while riding. I have bigger calves, so I had to pull the bottom up some, but even that bunching didn't cause issues. Super packable, and could be carried and put on at the top before ripping back down. If you're getting super sendy, I'd look at a burlier option like the Project or the Flex.

I have had these knee pads for awhile and they are great and provide adequate protection for what they are. Of course they are not going to be better than some harder shell pads but they provide great mobility. Very comfortable for all day use and if you have to do any climbing. The one annoying thing that bothered me was when the temperature starts to drop the actual pad starts to stiffen up and restrict mobility. Would I buy them again? Yes!

Pretty Okay.

These knee pads are some of the best all-mountain knee pads I've worn yet, but... There are a few issues I had. First, the knee pad top opening is true to size. When testing these, however, the knee sleeve down once the pads heat up at all and can be a bit aggravating. Secondly, the lower opening (around the shin) doesn't seem as though it wS made for muscular calves (or those calves that bike people have) and was pretty constructing and uncomfortable, even when just trying them on. The protective part itself, however, is amazing. It caves when you press on it, but when hit (or impacted by the ground, I imagine), it stayed solid and unforgiving. They're also really flexible when putting them on and taking them off and bonus! They look great. They're not a weird two-tone like some of the other sleeve-based pads out there and look awesome in photos. All in all, not a bad pad, but definitely not built for someone with overly muscular calves or who runs a little hot.
