Cruise the hood and then drop the hammer.

3T's Ergosum Pro Handlebar returns with the same design tweaks that fit your body rather than forcing your body to adapt to it. Instead of a rounded curve, the drops describe two flattened lengths connected at rounded angles. These flat areas provide two definite platforms for you to anchor your efforts whether you're sprinting or taking pulls in the break. The cross section also contributes to a stable grip, with a slightly flattened shape that puts more surface area against the meat of your palms and better fills out your grip.

If you're like many of us, then you may have mixed opinions about the cost-to-benefit ratio of carbon bars, and kit like the Ergosum Pro, with its low claimed weight of 245g (size 42cm) and a well-vetted history of durability under duress, definitely appeals to the cost-conscious racer. While we aren't worried about carbon bars breaking on the road, we do recognize their tendency to break the bank, and we also appreciate the ability to freely adjust our cockpit without a torque wrench.

Zero stress!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I love carbon bars! But... they are expensive to replace in the event of an accident.
Enter the 3T Ergosum for my son's new road bike. I sure would love to save another 50g for him, but at this time it is more important to me financially to get him a great bar that he can ride with till he is 18 or saves his own hard earned cash for a set of carbon bars.
As Jonny said below, 3T has been making bars for years, and I recall installing them as a kid in the shop back in the late 80s. I've always been a huge fan, and the fit and finish is second to none.
The only thing I wish these bars had was a channel to help mold the cables into the handlebar. Other than that, the markings on the bar to align the height of the brakes/shifters is accurate and well thought out.
I also prefer the shorter drop for him as he's not super big in the shoulders and doesn't require a deeper drop, as someone who needs more room for sprinting.
If you have questions on these 3T bars or other gear please reach out to me.

Great Bar. Great value.

3T is one of the most experienced manufacturers of cycling cockpit components in the sport. They offer the most extensive lineup in the sport.

3T (Turin Tube Technology) was founded in Northern Italy in 1961 by Mario Dedioniggi. 3T is used all over the UCI pro peloton. Lots of experience here.

This top-of-the-line aluminum road bar utilizes triple-butted 7050 aluminum alloy and is shot peened for extra strength.

This bar weighs 245 g (size 42). A carbon bar weighs ~200 g but costs $300! This 3T alloy bar is both light and strong and affordable. That's a combination that is hard to beat.

I think the Ergosum may be a better bar for those with size small/medium hands (glove size) than 3T's also excellent Ergonova bar (the egg shape tops may be too wide with those with small to medium hands). But bar shape is very personal.

Other pros of the Ergosum: 1) The short reach. 2) The ergo position in the drop position provides more comfort and control when descending at speed (though this is personal). 3) The new graphics are a big improvement over the 2014 version of the bar.

All in all, a great overall road bar. And a GREAT price/value.
