An essential.

A well-designed wetsuit that doesn't break the bank is something that often tops the list for beginner triathletes. Zoot designed its Z Force 1.0 Men's WetZoot precisely for these reasons.

Not one to skimp on materials, even for a lower price point wetsuit, Zoot used Yamamoto C38 neoprene. This is a highly flexible neoprene that doesn't restrict movement. Additionally, this C38 is coated with hydrodynamic Super Composite Skin (SCS), which gives the neoprene a slick surface. This improves swim speed by reducing drag, as the suit will slide through the water more efficiently.

The suit, of course, is cut to fit with specific panels that follow the shape of your body. It features Aqualift in the back panels, which is a 5mm-thick neoprene to increase your buoyancy. This keeps you high in the water and in a correct and hydrodynamic swimming position. Additionally, leg patterning called OKD (Optimal Kick Design) helps to keep your legs in a natural position to kick so that you aren't fighting the water. The suit is secured with an easy-to-reach DORSALflex zipper.

The Zoot Z Force 1.0 Men's WetZoot is available in six sizes from X-Small to XX-Large and in the color Black/flash.

  • Yamamoto C38 neoprene
  • Super Composite Skin hydrodynamic coating
  • Aqualift back panel
  • Optimal Kick leg panel design

Nice fit - easy to swim in

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: large

Pretty broad shouldered and the Large fit perfect. Snug and tight, but once on and in the water, was very easy to swim in. In 65 degree water, didn't even think about being cold. Could of been much colder I suspect. I did have the sewing around the colar unravel, but Backcountry is replacing it under warranty. I want the same exact suit, and Backcountry is THE easiest vendor on the web to work with when you have problems.

Excellent first suit!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

For years, people have been telling me to get into triathlon. I was a state champion swimmer in high school and swam on a club team in college and swimming has always been my first love. I'm also pretty decent on a bike. The only thing missing was the run. Problem is I hate running. But with some coaxing from some good friends I committed to my first real tri this summer.

Not knowing how I'd like triathlon, I didn't want to invest in an expensive suit. With its low price and high Zoot quality, I picked up the Force 1.0.

With only a few open water swims and 1 sprint tri in the suit, I am very satisfied with my purchase. My worries about flexibility went away the first swim. From the materials to the shape and ultimately the incredible price, this suit is excellent.

At my first tri I was first out of the water by 2 minutes. I felt fast and comfortable, if not a little warm.

The suit feels very high quality. The seams are reinforced and so far it has been easy to care for.

All in all, its a great entry level suit, yet I can see this lasting quite a long time.
