SL. Super-light. SuperLeggera. No matter the language, SL translates as tuned, faster, and lighter. Not surprisingly, Zipp's Service Course SL Alloy Seatpost is just that, or more simply put, a lighter version of its venerable Service Course Seatpost. Two things create the 40 gram weight savings -- more aggressive machine work in order to remove excess material and the addition of titanium hardware.
For the construction of Service Course SL, Zipp used 7075 aluminum. However, to bolster strength and reducing weight, a one-piece, 3D-forged design was adopted. It also has a two-bolt clamp assembly that allows a wide range of angle adjustment. This way, you can fine-tune your degree for the ideal nose angle. And once adjusted, the two-bolt assembly is ensured to not slip out of place.
Zipp engineers paid special attention to the length of the clamp assembly. On the lower portion, it's designed to be a bit longer than what you see on other seatposts. This is to support the saddle rails for those who prefer a rearward position. And in this day of ultralight titanium and carbon rails, the extra support and insurance against rail damage is a definite improvement.
The Zipp Service Course SL Alloy Seatpost is available in a 330 and 350mm length and in both 27.2 and 31.6mm diameters. Additionally, each length and diameter option is available in either a 0 or 20mm offset, and each seatpost is also available in the colors Beyond Black and Polished Black.
