Monster grip, mini weight.

To some, the Zipp Carbon Fiber Water Bottle Cage may seem excessive. Not to a cyclist, however. The true beauty of your bike is the details—hand-selected upgrades that only you might notice. Just knowing it's there is the main reason that you're head-over-heels in love with your ride.

This Zipp Carbon Fiber Water Bottle Cage is a completely different beast from the first-generation version -- it has greatly decreased surface area and weight, and thanks to its improved shape, it has even more grippiness than its predecessor. Bottles go in and out with ease when you want them to, and they stay in place when you're hammering along.

The Zipp Carbon Fiber Water Bottle Cage comes with a set of attachment bolts as well. One cage weighs in at a feathery 21g. Fits both short and tall bottles. Choose from Black or White.

I don't recommend these flimsy cages

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I began using 2 of these cages on my road bike in late March 2014. The cages have never been very secure, and I noticed a few weeks ago that the bottom flange on both cages had partially broken, which allowed for a lot of flex and an insecure hold on my bottles.

I get that carbon cages are not built for max durability, but I expected at least a year or two out of these, and they only held up for a few weeks at most. Gotta give these 1 star, Zipp.

poor seat tube grip

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

top tube cage i haven't had issues with but the one on the seat tube doesn't hold the bottle well enough. Pops out with a big enough bump. Fixed this with a small piece of rubber band that i used to tie the ends of the cage so they don't spread so easily... so i've neutralized the problem with minimal effort, although would be nice if the product just worked. i like the white look on my black frame.

Monster failure to Grip.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I had these cages put on my new bike recently and every time I go over a railway crossing or several bumps the bottle slides out of the bottom of the cage. Yesterday I successfully had the chain ring cut through the bottom of the water bottle. These cages look great but fail to deliver. My Specialized cages have now been placed on the new bike and will remain there.

Great carbon bottle cage

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Glad I got these. Match the wheels nicely. They're light and bottles stay locked in which is great. They come with their own set of bolts and washers. Only used them a couple of times and all looks good.
