NOTE TO DARIO
Dear Dario, The first time I rode one of your bikes (Fina Estampa) someone asked me what I thought. "This is a happy bike," I said, and then, under my breath, "and I want more of them. Lots more" And so I did. You put an awful lot of joy in a triangle of metal and alloy, and your friends, fans, loved ones, and a host of strangers have better lives for it. Now you know. And so: what can we do for you? Just ask, we are here for you. All the best, with love, Ricky

Dear Dario, The news of your illness was shocking, like a punch. We’ve never met, but I feel a deep affection for you – You make bicycles that are tremendously capable, beautiful, and personal. I was lucky to acquire a Nerac Love #3 frame last fall. You graciously advised me on “dressing” it, and even sent me handlebar tape to match the paint! Within a few weeks, it finally will be built up and on the road. My picture shows it partially built, still sculpture rather than bicycle. I was relieved to hear the recent news of your treatment and blood values. Expect a small token of thanks from me, which I hope will provide some musical nourishment as you recover.

Dario - I've been following you and your fine bicycles for some time now, telling myself that one day I would be able to own one of my own. When I heard the news I was distraught, but now I'm filled with hope that you'll recover and return to the craft you seem to truely love. I look forward to working with you one day. My best wishes,

In bocca al lupo, see you at Interbike as usual!!
Alberto De Gioannini, Italia
Dario - Every year we see you at Interbike, and each year it is something Jordan and I look forward to. Your joy and your exuberance rub off on the people around you and your smile makes my day better each time we meet. We are thinking of you!

15 minutes on a Pegoretti changed the way I felt about the ground. Hope you mend fast. Much love.

Dario, May you fight your fight as well as you create, with guts, style and determination to survive and thrive. You were handed a gift Dario, now seek the power and grace and proper tools within to continue...as you have said, you can do better! The twin plate picture will make you smile, Mario brazed it for your healing. C'ya well soon, JP
JP, Wishing you well!
Dario, I've got tons of extra power to send your way to help you with cancer battle. I'd also recommend the 'Livestrong notebook' from www.laf.org. It's free and great resource.

Ciao Dario, A few years ago I planned to visit your workshop, ride, and build a bike. That trip was postponed as I fell in love with Brigitte, who is now my wife. I still look forward to visiting with you, and hope to have a Big Leg Emma built when you are strong again. Functional art is an inspiration. You are an inspiration. I have a nice Black Maple Hill Bourbon for you, when you are feeling up to it, and some tunes from "Dizzy on the French Riviera" for relaxing. I think you will like the track "Chega de Saudade" (no more blues). Get well, and I hope you find a reason to smile every day. Cheers, Greg
