NOTE TO DARIO
Dear Mr. Pegoretti, Please accept my wishes and prayers for your speedy recovery. I am new to cycling, riding a hybrid until I lose 60 pounds and can feel comfortable on a real road bike. I greatly admire road bikes that are not only finely tuned products of engineering excellence, but also works of art. And it is clear that your bicyles are at the pinnacle of both domains. My advice is to find continued joy in your work, and indulge in whatever makes you laugh a lot, and you will be fine! Many around the world are sending good energies and thoughts of well-being your way.

Dario, I didn't even know that I wanted a new bike when I saw an image of a Marcelo on a chatboard. That was in 2000. Then, I wrecked it in a race, and the frame was gracious enough to crumple instead of wrecking me. I got a second Marcelo and then an 8:30 a.m. to race on, because I didn't want to wreck another Marcelo. I assure you that I've not bought my last Pegoretti. We've never met or spoken, but riding the bikes that you built for me feels as if we have got to know each other. I have had the privilege of leaving sweat, drool, and snot on your top tubes. If that's not love, what is? Get well, be well.

All I can say is that I hope this guy gets well. I have no idea who he is beyond that he a great bike builder but I sent a similiar message of goodwill to Armstrong when he was diagnosed with cancer and he made a great recovery. I am praying the same happens for Mr. Pegoretti. God Bless you and get well. The world needs great artist. Phillip
