It would be easy to be satisfied with the aluminum Haven 29er wheelset. After all, it's one of the best all-mountain 29" wheel options out there; at 1785g per set they're light enough, strong, and sexy, and their best attribute is that they're fully UST certified. But what if you could take nearly 200 grams off that number? And keep the same durability? This is exactly what you get with the Easton Haven Carbon 29in Wheelset.

Easton is pioneering the use of some new materials along with familiar ones to create a true all-mountain wheel that rivals lightweight cross-country wheel weights. In comparison to the alloy 29" Havens, the big difference for the 29" Haven Carbon wheels is the new composite rim and the significant weight reduction that comes with it. The rim is a composite beauty that combines carbon fiber with high modulus polyethylene, or HMPE (although you might know it as Spectra) in an epoxy resin system that has been rubberized to further add impact strength. The combination of these materials gives the Haven Carbon 29" rims a superior strength to weight ratio. In fact, Easton is so sure of their durability, they offer a two year unconditional warranty policy. You tear one up, they set it right.

They have the coveted UST tubeless logo which means that they are guaranteed tubeless compatible, and possess all of the shaping and structural requirements to meet the stringent standards for certification.

In practical terms, you can seat a UST tire on these wheels by hand and with only a floor pump -- no mess and no fuss. Creating a UST approved rim is tricky, but Easton found a great way to get around the task of eliminating the spoke penetrations in the outer wall of the rim. The straight-pull DT double-butted spokes are placed in the hub in a 3-cross pattern as usual, but the nipple is new for this wheel. It is both internally and externally threaded. When the spokes are drawn into the nipple it is simultaneously threading into the alloy inserts in the inner wall of the rim. They can be trued exactly like a wheel with standard nipples. Only the included valve stems pierce the entire cross-section of the rim. The rim width is a sensible 21 mm inside to allow the fitment of 2.3 - 2.5" tires for true all-mountain adventures.

The hubs in the Easton Haven Carbon 29in Wheelset run on sealed cartridge bearings and have preload adjusters so you'll have an easy time making sure that your bearings are always perfectly adjusted. The 15mm front hub is convertible for use with a standard quick release. You'll simply need the appropriate conversion axle from Easton. The rear is designed to use a standard quick release. The rear quick release skewer is included. The hubs are anodized in Champagne and the DT spokes are black. They have ISO standard 6-bolt mounts for the brake rotors.
