Campagnolo's CULT ceramic bearings are over 1000 times more round than the best steel bearing of any type, grade, or benchmark. At 25mph, the calculated energy savings from these alone is 0.8 to 1.0 watts. On an 8% grade, the reduction in friction is the equivalent of a reduction in static weight of 340 grams. This is exactly why they specify CULT bearings on their top-of-the-range Hyperon Ultra Two and Bora Two wheelsets. These bearings are so hard and so smooth that Campagnolo pairs them with CULT specific races and cones. These Cronitect stainless chromoly races are incredibly hard and corrosion resistant and are a perfect match for the precision of the CULT ceramic ball bearings. In fact, this combination is so finely mated, Campagnolo recommends only a light oil for lubrication instead of typical heavy, thick grease.
Along with the near frictionless spin, ceramic bearings are known for longevity. And while your CULT bearings should last for many a kilometer, there will be a time when they should be replaced to maintain the PRO-caliber performance of your Campagnolo wheels. The ceramic balls are held in lightweight nylon retainers and come ready for assembly. The cost is for 4 sets of bearings, which will replace each cage in your current CULT hubset: Left front, right front, left rear, and right rear.
Please Note: CULT ceramic replacement bearings should not be used in wheelsets that did not come equipped with CULT ceramic bearings and their specific Cronitect races. For a ceramic bearing upgrade for all of Campagnolo's other wheels with modern OS hubs, their USB ceramic bearing sets can be used to achieve higher performance than standard stainless ball bearings.
