GAGE + DESOTO MEN'S CASUAL WEAR
La Fleche Wallonne is unlike any of the other Spring Classics. Why? Because it's only race that detonates so violently in its final moments. No matter how perfectly a rider plays the first 198.7km, his entire day can (and often does) collapse in the final 1.3km on the 128m ascent of the Mur de Huy. It's been the finale of the race since 1983, with an average grade of 9.3%, some sections at 17%, with a 26% kicker in one of the final corners.
The Walloon Rooster is the emblem of Wallonia and the French community of Belgium, and has long served as a symbol of La Fleche Wallonne. This shirt, designed by Gage + Desoto is the type of thing that speaks in code. When you wear it, your friends will scratch their heads, but fellow bike racing fans will give you a subtle nod.
Who (or what) is Gage + Desoto? Just like you and me, they're bike racing nerds. But unlike you and me they have the sort of design nous to be thought of as trendsetters in the hyper-self conscious design scene of Brooklyn. Let's ride their coattails and look fabulous, shall we?
This is an American Apparel Poly-Cotton Short Sleeve Crew Neck shirt. It's 50% polyester and 50% combed cotton. The combed cotton is what gives American Apparel tees their ultra-soft and worn-in feel with a superior drape. It's designed to be slim-fitting and is unisex.
