Description

Burn rubber, not your wallet.

We all love seeing new bikes get released, especially when it's the latest in Yeti's storied Superbike lineup. However, not everyone is in a position to shell out top dollar for the Factory Team replica build. So, if you have big plans, but don't have bottomless pockets, the Yeti SB-75 Comp Complete Mountain Bike will get you smiling. It's packed with components that match the newest SB's capabilities, only without ignoring the need for value. The build is essentially the same as the Enduro kit, with the exception of the Evolution series FOX suspension. In other words, you're looking at one of the most capable trail bikes around, and it doesn't come with cost of a mortgage payment either.

The SB-75 represents the latest version of Yeti's Switch Technology suspension platform. At a glance, it's easy to mistake the Switch platform for a linkage-driven single pivot, but hidden underneath the blue anodized hardware is an eccentric pivot. Essentially, this turns the SB series into a whole different beast. The eccentric pivot is basically a smaller pivot that's housed inside of a larger one. As a result, this system provides Yeti with an extra degree of control over the forces involved in the suspension action. In the beginning of the SB's five-inches of travel, the pivot rotates towards the rear axle. This means that it's rotating opposite the direction of the pedaling forces that are being applied through the chain. In translation, it neutralizes the pedaling force. So, the SB remains stiff and responsive under power, rather than allowing your pedaling force to influence the suspension.

As the bike compresses into the bottom of the travel, the eccentric link changes direction, rotating toward the front axle. This forward rotation keeps the chainstays short under full-compression, which keeps your weight centered in a neutral position relative to the wheelbase. And that all adds up to predictable feel and control throughout the entirety of the bike's travel. But despite the sophistication of the Switch platform, it's easily serviced by home mechanics.

As for the upright link driving the rear shock, it works in conjunction with the eccentric main pivot to provide a firm, responsive ride that's still capable of erasing the roughest of trail chatter. And it has the added benefit of boosting the lateral stiffness of the frame, which keeps your bike tracking straight through G-outs, hard turns, and unpredictable terrain.

The aluminum construction of the SB-75 yields the strength that you'll need when the trails get hairy, while still keeping the weight competitive at just over seven-and-a-half pounds with a shock. The 67.5-degree head tube angle gives you the high speed stability that you'd expect from a bike bearing the Superbike moniker, but it's still precise for climbing and technical turns. The 13-inch bottom bracket height positions your feet below the centerline of the hub axles. In turn, this design yields a planted feel on rough terrain. And, on top of all this, 17.4-inch chainstays keep the '75 lively and responsive, while also providing plenty of climbing traction.

The Comp build for the SB-75 runs an Evolution Series FOX 34 140mm fork, which pairs perfectly with the Evolution Series FLOAT CTD rear shock. And while the fork forgoes the FIT sealed damper of the Factory Series option, and both the fork and shock do without the Kashima coating, you're still left with a lightweight, durable chassis that's more than capable of handling aggressive riding. It features a 15mm quick-release thru-axle for heightened stiffness, while the mid-sized chassis is an ideal match for the 75's capabilities. The drivetrain and brakes are SRAM items, chosen for both value and durability. S1000 cranks transfer your power to the rear wheel, while X7 shifters and front derailleur, and a X9 rear derailleur, handle shifting duties. The brakes are Avid Elixir 5s, and the stem, handlebar, and seatpost are all Truvativ T30 and T20items. These have been capped off with Yeti branded grips and saddle. And lastly, the wheels are DT Swiss M1900s that have been wrapped in Maxxis tires.

The Yeti SB-75 Comp Complete Mountain Bike is available in four sizes from X-Small to Large and in the colors Black, Yellow, and Turquoise.

Please note that US Yeti dealers are prohibited from shipping Yeti bicycles to any country other than Canada, Mexico, and the United States.

Awesome Bike!!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I had the chance to ride this bike at Outerbike recently and it was,by far, my favorite ride of the weekend. I immediately felt at home on this bike with its ample stand over height, low bottom bracket and well-balanced geometry. That combo made the bike very snappy and agile with awesome flick ability on the trail. The bike also accelerated very well, especially in steep sections and the 5 inches of travel I felt was a great compliment to the 27.5 wheel size. I look forward to the carbon version one day!. If you have the means I highly recommend picking one up.

Glad you liked the SB75. The yellow looks awesome, but why is yellow not an option on the competitive cyclist website?

YETI 27.5

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

First, let me say, I am completely head over heals in love with competitive cyclist. The service, pricing, and SERVICE, are second to none. When my bike arrived (in a smoking fast 2 days to California) I was in shock at the expert packing and condition the bike was in. It took me a while to actually unpack my bike because I felt a little bad destroying what I considered package art. I had to take a few pictures because it was just so well done. Once I assembled my bike (putting the handlebars and wheels on) I was again in shock at the way the guys over at competitive pre-assembled this bike. Breaks were expertly bleed, everything was to speck, there was a sign off sheet in a super cool little binder with an autograph and to top it off they included an awesome mtn biking magazine. At the price I payed, with free shipping these guys could have shoved everything in a box and said here ya go. But that wasn't the case, they go the extra mile, and then go another half on top of that. Im no new bee to the bike world, this is my 6th bike, and I have over 9 years riding under my belt. I don't get impressed easily. This bike was put together better, and in better shape, than any bike Ive ever bought from a bike shop. Considering it was bought online and I had to re-assemble that is saying a ton.
Now, let me get to the YETI. One word, perfect. My last bike was a 2010 S works enduro with 6" of travel. It blasted downhill. I purchased the yeti sb75 COMP, and its not only more of an ENDURO than my enduro was, it climbs like my old stump jumper hard tail. Amazing. If you're looking at getting a 27.5, this is the one. And this is the place to buy it at. I literally saved hundreds of dollars buying this bike online vs a shop, and I don't feel bad about it either. I still spend tons of money at my local shop buying bike bling.

Geometry

The geometry listed is for a SB95. I would go one size down for the SB75 to get the same fitting or go to the yeti website to view the correct geometry for the SB75.

Responded on

Finally someone noticed and updated the geometry on this website.

SB75 Comp does not use Kashima shocks

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The SB75 Comp bike is the same as the above pictured bike, the only difference is the comp uses Fox's EVO suspension the is not Kashima coated. The above photoed bike is the SB75 Enduro Complete bike
